Ready Made Gunpla

i do some commissioned jobs for people, whether its Warhammer, Cars, planes, gundams, etc.

its sometimes fun to try new things, and be appreciated for your job.

Nope... Anything that i bought will remain with me.

I would like to do that, but my skills wouldn't be good enough to sell it like that.

I myself couldn't buy ready made; I always felt that building the model was half the fun and worth.

I couldn't sell mine either. Too much love and attention gone into those. So much effort to get around to making those as well, I couldn't make enough to sell. XD

I couldnt sell mine and I dont think Id like to buy them either.

Still, that Unicorn Gundam looks sooooo sexy. :D

Self buy/built/keep...unless I'm paid to make them then it's a whole new thing.

I wouldn't sell mine. Even if I did, I don't have the skills to make one good enough to sell.

Kinda spoils all the fun in making it if you buy, it's not the beauty that counts, it's the hard work you put in.

I wouldn't make them just to sell them, but with my financial troubles I am having, I wouldn't be against it.

i would sell if and only if i hate/dislike that model in the 1st place. or i had 2 of the same model. but even if i did have 2 or more of a same model it would be hard for me to do the same thing twice.

I wouldn't build just to sell, i just don't have the time. maybe if i were a student still and needed money bad..

there always this level of expectation that needs to be addressed. you must provided adequate craftsmanship and level of service/professionalism. thats always a challenge when createing commissioned works or selling, you need to present you work as art. show that its really worth the buyers money .

Those are nice looking gundams.. Wish I had the talent to make ones like those. Yeah I'd probably sell ready made gundams if ever I had the skills.

Well I don't make gundams, but if I did, I wouldn't mind selling them.

I am a mercenary, BWAHAHAHAHA!!!(Evil laugh). Anything I can do that makes a buck I will. Been doing commissioned works (mostly tanks and figures) for about 6 years now.

if you're going to pay top dollar for one at least buy one that's really detailed or custom colored
these are quite plain looking; on the edge of boredom even.

I guess the reason why people buy pre-made models is to appreciate them as though they were works of art. It's like buying paintings instead of painting them yourself (that's a pretty long shot but yeah). I wish I were good enough to even consider selling my work.

For me, I feel that the building process enhances my appreciation for my gunpla, and on top of that, I can do mods without being afraid of screwing up the great work of somebody else.

I got a master modeller who paint toys from all range & sell it off as Display Item........ Pretty nice income, but the paint fume is killing him now.........

I wouldn't mind either selling or buying a built gundam kit. my first MG kit (Ex-S gundam) waan't built by me. ^^

Maybe it was a custom job like the Gundam 00 with the seven sword configuration... at least its a unique figure where a bigger price tag makes more sense. The "most coolsome Gundam 00" looks pretty good though.

Buying a ready made Gundam just takes the fun out of actually building the kit =/

It's up to 126,000 円. If I could sell one for a price like that, sure I'd go for it!

The sense in buying a model kit (IMO) is being able to experience the fun of building the kit yourself, no matter what kind of result ensues. As a budding modeler, I'm confident that I'm slowly improving, though I'm not that magnificent yet. If ever I become a "godly" modeler, sure I'll sell my work...

As for buying a ready made model... I would gladly buy those that won the BAKUC, or some those that came from that machine like modeler named Keita..Dang, I sure love his custom Nu Gundam!!

I would buy already built Gunpla but I would feel more pride in the ones I would make than the one I bought.

Time for danny to build up some momentum on the gundam posts!
Personally I wouldn't mind if it was a commisioned job from the start, but I wouldn't go out to buy something with the intention of selling it.

And as for buying them, it takes out the fun/stress of building. I know that it will not be as good as the pro made ones but you get a sense of feeling that you accomplished it and all those tiny little mistakes you made are a personal touch. ^_^

i most probably wouldn't sell them since i put all my effort into making them. its a different matter that i dont have the expertise to paint gundams or any model kits xD.

I'm no good at model-building of any kind, so if I actually manage to get myself to start one - let alone finish - it's probably one I really want and one that I put my heart and soul into. >< No way I'd sell that.

If I put lots of effort into a model so that it is actually worth selling then probably not, I'd feel unaccomplished with just a bit of extra cash. That Gundam 00 Raiser up for sale on yahoo auction japan is soo good, didnt really think much of it till those pics.

That 00 Raiser is not worth 90,000 yen imo. All the modeller did was to script a few panel lines and add a few pieces of metal... he didn't even resize the proportion to make it looks MG-fied.

I hope whomever won that bid won't regret when the MG 00 comes out.

While i would be willing to do a commission job for someone if the conditions were right, I would not do a Gundam kit to sell on. It just doesn't seem right. They;re easy to put together and look pretty decent out of the box, so why get someone else to do it for you?

I would if I could =o but I'd probably concentrate on my favourite models only, at the moment it's the Exia and 00.
Wonder why they didn't wait for the MG version to paint, I wouldn't go near the non-MG version =/

I would. If I have the talent it would be nice to put it to good use for others.

My take would be that I would buy two of every model kit, one for myself and another to sell. I'd take on jobs for anyone wanting work done and take payment of either money or a double of the kit I worked on if I didn't have it already.

I dont mind gundams but i cant be botherd to by them and the ones that challange me are to much so its kinda a contradiction

Why not? I can always buy the kit again and build one for myself, with extra cash to spare^^

After spending all that time to build and craft the gunpla just to sell it for money? No thanks, I'd rather work and make cash and know that my time and effort spent isnt going to be bought by someone else.

i always get asked by friends and family while building model kits "Are you gonna sell that?" and the answer is always "Hell NO". To me, it feels like selling your own children. when i build gunpla, i pour so much effort and love into it that the attachment is akin to giving birth. weird? O_o

I would never buy "ready made" Gunplas nor would I ever sell my own. Something about that just doesn't seem right. Especially if it is straight built (I see auctions on ebay like that). Half of the purpose for Gunpla's existence is so that one can enjoy assembling it and the other half is displaying it. What's the point of buying a Gundam model if half is already done for you?

And also, that Unicorn looks a lot like mine o_o.

Maybe I'll think about it when I have high enough skills to do a proper GUNPLA.

Well for me 99.9% of the fun is building it. After i just let them gettin' dusty on my shelfs.

wow, 14000 for that, IMHO is not worth it. It's not really that hard to finish building one to that level xD

I think one should build his/her own Gunpla instead of buying as it gives more satisfaction to the owner... And I'd be crazy if I sell a Gunpla I made...

Hmm, there's some thing very wrong (IMHO) wi th just buying ready made gunpla.
Isn't the fun of building it and sculpting it into your own image? It has a personality and life after that~ ^____________^

Here in the Philippines it's quite common to buy ready made gunplas. Me too i buy and sell built gundams.

Those guys are skilled, but where's the fun in buying ready-made stuff? It's a different matter if someone approaches you to fix it up for them for a price, but not fix it up and market it somewhere.

It all depend on the eye of the beholder
