Anime Fan Service

"Eyes" were bouncy and sometimes wet while pantsu was either being flashed on the screen or being handled. In fact, there was so much fan service that it erased my memory and I forgot the cute girls name.
From the first EP, we learn that the main girl has an aura which drains the energy of men and make them go wild over her - not surprising as she's wearing what seems to be next to nothing.
While I do like fan service from time to time, I do need a balance in my anime diet. Claymore for example had zero fan service. Darker than Black didn't have any fan service as far as I can remember either.
Having said that, I will keep Ninomiya on the watch list for now as Gundam 00 will keep the balance even - EP 02 was awesome! Although the Destiny series did have a touch of wobbly eyes...
After reading some of your comments however, I see that some of you hate fan service.
If you was to be stuck on a dessert island for the rest of your life and could watch only one type of anime, which will it be?
OP for Ninomiya below.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

Always black or white polls with you, danny :( I like a little bit of fanservice, but not too much. Claymore had some btw, in the ep where she undresses. The fact that all the Claymores were beauties was also fanservice, imho.

i like fan service but i do it in moderation. too much fan service is not good for both the fan and the anime...
fan service is lucrative and it's a perfect otaku bait lolz XDDD

After watching alot of animu, I have to say - I hate fan service. I think fan service has been done to death, no clue why people keep making more and more anime that is based around it.

Anyway, Danny's polls are great haha :D

i think that a little of fan service is ok, but when they have F.S. all the time it gets boring and then you start to pay attention to the storyline and you notice that the anime sucks. it has happened to me before.

I quite like fan service! Fan service does not make an anime though. Most of my favourite series have very little.
Have you ever seen Agent Aika? Ive NEVER seen so many blatant panty shots in an anime EVER!
(its great! ahem...)

I started watching anime because of the incredible scifi themes and plot lines. I keep watching it for the scifi, fanservice and to feed my fascination with Japanese culture.
Your right Danny, Gundam OO is great! Soo many shows to watch, is there an end to the anime season or is it year round???
=.=!

well.. it has become a trend.. and of course.. nobody is really tired watching the fan service lol..

I definitely like a little fan service here and there. As for this show...hey any thing with a FN P90 is OK with me.

It's ok to have some fan service, but damn this is just too much. *looks down on floor in shame*

at least the story is acceptable and the time for fanservice is just nice! and luckily, there's no censoring like Kodomo no Jikan, which is heavily censored!!

Ha danny does have a lot of black and white polls. I dont mind FS once in awhile but i do like alot of nonFS animes. Just really what kind of mood im in i guess.

Depends on what sort of anime is it. If the anime is meant to have a deep story and serious things going on, then excessive fanservice will be a real hindrance. If the anime's rather light-hearted and doesn't seem to plan anything serious, then UNLEASH ADDITIONAL PANTYSHOTS AND BATH SCENES!

Heh gotta love fan service, "Colorful" is full of it.
If I were to get a future relationship I would have to be careful of the level of fan service! It's not necessarily a bad thing but too much of it in an anime that was originally set in a "serious" tone totally draws away from the anime, one reason why I wasn't really interested in Jinki:Extend.
Maybe the purpose of the anime was to be a fan service provider, Danny? While fan service is cool, I also like my mix of anime to balance everything out.

I hate 99% of fan service. I honestly don't mind a little bit of fan service, but fan service like every moment is just ick. Just a tiny bit of fan service is what I kind tolerate.
Ikkitousen is a fan service show I hate.

Ah, for me, the over-riding elements must be the storytelling and its characters, whether it's violent drama or school-time humor.
So if the fan service fits and serves as a highlight to the darker moments in a passionate story, then that's awesome. Meanwhile, mindless fan service can get old very quickly. =)

moe fan service, the more the better.
JKing, every show needs a balance between fan service and actual plot, a good anime is the one that balances all of those nicely. (i.e. FMP & haruhi) but that doesnt explain lucky star.... maybe full out fan service really is the best thing?

Too much fan service is not always good, I like a good storyline to follow.

Its been almost 2-3 years since a show like this has really come up to the fans...thats why I'm watching it......its also funny

Well, in my opinion, too much fanservice kills the show.
Grenadier and Girls Bravo were rather amusing, but there was a sense of "Isn't that a bit too much?" or "Have they no shame?" at times.
I also heard that Divergence Eve is also a good series, but that fanservice doesn't give it justice.
For me, it is either full fanservice (lighthearted comedy), a bit of it (oopsies) or nothing at all (super seriousness). I'd vote for the second, even if 100% serious anime series are kind of refreshing sometimes.
Say, if guys didn't have that much testosterone, fanservice, T & A softcore and hentai wouldn't exist... right?
Yeah, yeah, I'll stop here. *Gives mic back*

not voting this time. I like a balanced diet as well. I tend to watch series like Claymore, Darker than Dark, Heroic Age and so on, but I do like a little fanservice tossed in, once in a while...
Student
Lol..I'm watching this too.
I'm on the 2nd episode.

Thinking back now, my vote was wrong...
I do like fanservice, but I don't absolutely require it on my anime.
Some of my favorite animes doesn't have fanservice at all. And lots that I watched and liked also doesn't. Lain, Pita-ten, Azumanga, Fruits Basket, Witch Hunter Robin, Kenshin, Studio Ghibli, Akira, Eva.... (it's a pretty long list, never noticed that).
Plotless animes with fanservice only are not my type also. Why? If I want that much fanservice without plot, I'll just watch hentai or something (given that there are some hentais with a pretty good plot).
I remember at least a couple of animes I dropped due to too much fanservice... like Aika and all those panty shots, and Ikkitousen.
Also, on Tenjou Tenge I liked the story from the past, which had far less fanservice, then the rest of the anime itself.

I think if you dont like fanservice dont watch this kind of shows, there are so many stuff out there, I like the show and I know there will be no plot in there

Lucky Star was supposed to have some kind of "fan service", according to some people. I mean, I guess there is a general line where it's ok to have, or too much = bad things...
Episode 2 of 00 was good! I do want to keep watching it, which is a good thing. As well, I heard that Degeki Hobby's 2008 February issue is giving out some extra parts for Exia.
Nice anime with kawaii girls.. lol

I don´t like random fanservice in ''serius'' like darker than black. because i take that like only for sale.
But i don´t have problem with fanservice in shows that are suppouse for that, like eroges animes etc, its about the concept per se
UOIT student
lol, yeah.. though there might be half-a-scene or half-of-two with the person in the middle of changing. but then again that would be well placed instead of being random. so i guess random is the key word.
it's really awkward if something is safe enough for kids until somewhere in the late middle or near the end and then boom hentai or gore and then back to safe for kids... etc..out-of-place would probably be a more proper word for my choice. so no out-of-place stuff for me.

Girls Bravo is a perfect example of fanservice.Hope you guys understand that I am perverted a little of course I could be lieing.

nothing like coming home after a hard days work to unwind with some fan service anime, woot!!~ =P
but yeah, i vote moderation actually. too much fan service is teh meh. storyline is pretty important to me.
Student
For me (when watching anime), come for the fan service, stay for the plot/story. Sometimes, I sorta just want some random comedy and fan service. Others, I want a nice developed story. (but a combo of both is nice to)
student
some fanservice is acceptable but too much ruins the plot.
Naajica was full of fan service. There were like 20 panty shots per scene.

Hmmm, its a good question.... but I think I'd have to go with romantic comedies. Stuff like Lovely Complex. It doesnt even have to be comedy, it can just be like Sand Chronicles. But I do like magical girl series... but alot of them are rom-coms, so they would fall under my catagory... lol. I just like lovely anime which makes you feel warm and fuzzy after watching it. Like Ouran High School did. That was an awesome series... Rom-coms all the way!!! I'd prefer less fan service really, but I pay attention to the story over the panties anyway.
Student and full-time otaku
Well, I voted fanservice all the way, but if I'd be stuck on an island with it I'm not sure if I would. You see, being constantly teased while being devoid of female companionship for the rest of your life could kinda make one desperate...so its only good we're not on a deserted island XD
Too much fan service; not so good IMO.
I vote for moderate amounts of the stuff.
