Nope. I don't think we have a decent Christmas lighting or decoration in my region.

Shibuya will always be full with lights and LED even without christmas lights ^^;

OMG seeing this pic is making me excited.

Going to be going there just before xmas for a week or so. Friends are telling me how nice it is over there around xmas time. I can't wait to check it out.

The ones in Leicester are awesome atm. Theres even a christmas market!! Mini Pancakes ftw! lol.
Theres a MASSIVE tree, almost as tall as the clocktower. But they sprayed it white and put white led lights on it... I would have prefered a gaudier tree myself, multicoloured lights to match the ones in the streets lol.
The ones in my hometown of Norwich are awesome too.

my region is full of selfishness, they don't want to spend money for decorating their region,what a cheapskate.

At first I thought our Xmas street decors were "WOW!" but after I spent 1 holiday season in HK, here they look kinda "meh" or about average.

There is no AWESOME factor in Christmas decorations around my area. There are some good ones, but a lot of the houses around that one are bare empty X_X

Hmm, the decorations in our area are nice ^_^ It even attracts tourist and there are stall and live bands in the street.
Then again, there are certain 'privileged' areas where people compete, 'who has the most Christmas lights' ^^;

My town square has several of its tree's coated in blue lights. Cheap lights with 1 so called Xmas tree covered in the same. Its a shame that over the years they have spent less and less.

Only random xmas deco for a few shops and houses in my hometown.

My hometown of Weiser, ID actually did a pretty decent job of Christmasy decorations when I was growing up. Don't know about now though. Boise, ID however isn't all that great and pretty pathetic in comparison.

Germany has every year the same crap hanging in the streets... nothing pretty at all imo. Just stupid light bulbs in stupid shapes. ^^;

They can't decorate trees or such as nicely as on the pic above because at night the young idiots about would steal or demolish it.

Singapore generally has pretty ok decorations, but the meat of all decorations is usually around town. There you can find quite nice decorations. I rmb when I was young my dad would drive us around the place just to look at the christmas deco.

I wouldn't say they spend a lot each year. They just recycle the same old decorations from 20 years ago.

my area is mainly low density residential
there are literally competitions that families participate in and it gets better every year
i sometimes take a drive at night just to check them out

In Hong Kong, we get huge wall of Christmas & Chinese New Year light around the Victoria harbor. However it was gotten less grand this year due to the economic.
Beside the kind mention above, we also very grand Christmas deco in large shopping center. (Large in Hong Kong size) so basically we gets lots of lights in Hong Kong. It might not be the best, but it's pretty.

If ones decided to visit HK and have some free time, I'm more then happy to take people on local tour.

The area where I live, there aren't many public decorations or lights. Where I study, however, is completely different. The downtown core is usually filled with various people but it seems the area outside of the Eaton Centre is particularly popular amongst tourists. I guess thats why the city poured so much money into the place or something... it looks just like the street picture above but compressed. The streets are about four lanes apart so they have even hung lights across. I finished my last exam yesterday at around 6 and it was a already dark. Kind of sucked staying so "late" though that wouldn't be accurate, its just my body clock being thrown off. The only good point of staying so late was the amount of decorations on the streets that night that made staying until after dark good.

You don't really feel the Christmas spirit here in Warsaw.

Well, in the part of the city I live there's simply NO xmas decorations.... or nothing that could be called that.

Back in my hometown though, it seems there's no decoration at all. 3 years ago there were lots of decoration through the whole town... which was pretty normal, since it is a touristic city.

It seems the city prefecture is broke...

Personally, I love cities' lighting, too bad I don't live in a city with a good enough lighting T_T

Christmas lights and seing a lot of activity in the streets are one of my favourite things of Christmas x3~~

My family and I are going to see the lights in Tenjin next week. They always go all out. I love Fukuoka!

Well, it all depends on where I go...
Here in Toronto...an area called Dundas...the mall and the area out side is decorated with giant xmas trees and a lot of lights and different decorations...

We have almost nothing for X-mas here and just several dim lights for N.Y. ToT

The lights here are average. But there are some very beautiful spots:)

A sudden burst of premature arctic cold interrupted decorating this year.
Slowly things are beginning to go up.

Maybe it will all be done by spring...

nothing much here. just some brightly lit malls trying to attract christmas shoppers.

In paris they put yellow lights in trees and xmas icone above the streets.
Some folks also puts a santa climbing to their window

I live in the southwest US so they put up a lot of fake farolitos (Bags with candles in them or in this case plastic with a light in it for anyone who doesn't know) on the buildings around here. They actually look pretty nice at night.

My town decorates the downtown area, but not much else, Although Strip mall area i work in goes all out with new winter friendly landscaping, lights, bows and speakers playing Christmas music to top it all off.

Most of the major streets here are decorated with lights and ornaments. They also set up a light show every year in one of the major parks in the city. All you need to see it is a donation to the food bank, but I haven't gone in a long time :/

I'm popping over to Tokyo on the 26th and I'm hoping that the Christmas décor wouldn't all be taken down by that stage. Does anyone know when they usually start removing the Christmas decorations?

christmas decorations are virtually non-existent in my area, except for shopping centres and even that is getting a bit old. however, between the pleasant and jubilant festive mood that comes with christmas and the awfully loud and frivolous noise that comes with chinese new year, i will take this anytime.

my city is pretty sprawled out, but even at the best places, we only have a bit of decorations, could of street/tree lights. people around my region though decorate their houses pretty well. we have this one guy who spends about i think like 10000 or more CAD on just lighting bills (it's this tradition in my city, he owns some kinda hardware store or something, people give him donations and he puts these lights on that like make his house frikin glow (i feel sorry for the people living next to him... they probably get no sleep since a bajillion watts worth of lights are going on next door). but... i should post pics of his house someday on my blog or on this news :)

The west-ends lights are very shabby this year. The shop fronts look better.

There are certain areas thar are well lit. Mostly main street and those big ones. I haven't seen the ones back home but I assume the same holds true. I also have a gut instinct that Pasadena is pretty well lit.

Not too many places put up decorations. Mostly some of the shopping areas like the malls (they're pretty neat). There are some really great houses in the neighborhood though.

They go all out on Main street in the village which I live near. It's really nice cause the approach to the village is down hill so you see an elevated view of Main street which is all tree lined and covered with Christmas lights. They replace all the street light bulbs with fake flame ones to give more of a older style look. The best is the canal runs through the village and they add lights at water level to either illuminate the water or usually Ice by this time of year. Most of the shops put elegant clothing in the windows and elaborate Christmas scenes. It is a look of new mixed with Victorian era elegance. Unfortunately is missing cute goth-loli type girls to compliment the Victorian look :(

Decorations over here in Holland are pathetic. and that's an understatement. we get the usual xmas trees, lighting and that's it. nothing special.

On the other hand, I love the xmas decorations in HK.

The people who live in my neighborhood love to decorate their homes, but the actual city does not do it so much. Maybe throw some lights on a few dead bushes in front of the court house and BAM! You have beautiful. lol.

My community does a thing called "Christmas in the Park" where they put up lights and displays and have people drive through it with Christmas music blaring in the background. Initially, the display was nice for our community. But, nearly a decade into it, they use the same decorations, many of the lights are dim or out, and the music is not quite as fun after having to hear it again and again and again--I live within distance of the park and every time I step out or open a door in the evening; I can hear it.

Shibuya is always beautiful at night ^^ it's too bad I've never been there around Christmas time.

The people around here sometimes have ridiculous Christmas decorations though. One guy puts up this whole miniature Ferris wheel and train system running around his yard. Somebody else has a massive sleigh they somehow get on their roof...

They're setting up a "Christmas Village" in the center of town, but it's pretty plain. I would like to say that they aren't finished, but I haven't seen any changes in the last week or so.

Were I live now (in the states) noone has Christmas lights out because hardly anyone would see them. I live in the middle of nowhere.

When I used to live in California though they went all out. There was a big Christmas lights competition around Riverside area which we liked to drive through. It was unbelievable. The sheer amount of lighting and decorations on those houses. It looked like day time in the dead of night. Would hate to see there electric bill.

maybe i'll take a picture of the christmas decoration in orchard road if i'm in town. 7pm is still bright over here. ^^;

This very good decoration, much better than it is in these parts of the world: P, and although many buildings have .. always saw everything very harmonious, nothing creates a visual nuisance.

Well, most people in my country don't celebrate christmas anyway.
The only places you can see Chrismas decorations are in malls n shopping centres.

Shibuya kinda reminds me of Times Square in New York...Usually the area around L.A. is alright, but this year it's going to be different since the they built the Nokia building next to the Staples Center...they even have a LED Christmas tree...

The decorations here are OK I think... Not as lively as the ones in Japan...

The government here (well, the local government that is) puts up this giant parols (they're stars made out of materials and have some source of light in them) in the middle of the streets on top of the street lights. Simple, yet it's enough to put you into the Christmas spirit. THAT and the fact that there a lot of stores at the sides of the street selling various Christmas accessories and gifts.

Oxford Street lights weren't anywhere near as good as me and the parents hoped. They've only gone with a fairly austere choice of two different colours, and there's not many of them at all. The department stores are a bit more colourful but not fantastic. Quite enjoyed the windows in Debenhams with the dancing foxes ^^

Downtown Oslo has pretty good Christmas decorations, but when you get a bit away from the main shopping areas it gets way simpler, like just stars on the walls, but it's Christmasy enough. Still, nothing beats having a stroll downtown, looking at the lights ^^

Christmas lights are so beautiful in Tokyo. Am planning to head there for Christmas during my winter break. Can't wait!
