Mamamia! The SAFS Seem to be getting bigger!
Preview of Dunan and Briareos (Appleseed) in this article. Review of all of these including RAH Medicom Motoko (Ghost in the Shell) soon.

Very much in the mood to watch Ex Machina again ^^; Personally liked it a lot although I hear many people didn't like the John Woo film.

And for those who are wondering about the title of this post - Masamune Shirow is the creator of Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell.

notice such bugs when i tried to click on a comment i previously made from within "My Comment"
also, i notice its sometimes not only + but also or /

back to the topic yes, i really like ex machina, fantastic CGs and that briaros looks big and hunky, whats the scale?
it looks big even with freeing haruhi beside...

Unsure about "+", but "/" most definitely does cause a bug that makes links to articles from the Search page invalid.

Masamune's Ghost in the Shell was my gateway drug into the Otaku world back in the early 90s...always glad to see more of his work.

I don't think I enjoyed GITS as much as I should have. Same for Akira. I know they're meant to be 'seminal' and made a big impact, but I just think they're a tad overrated myself... I prefer the Akira manga at any rate. More story.

I've noticed that too. For the "/" links, and you have to manually type the "/" back in. My theory is that it creates a new directory. For example:

"PVC 1/8 Figure.html" becomes "8 Figure.html" and is stored under an extra subdirectory called "PVC 1". Just my guess though.

Haven't seen any of the Appleseed stuff, though the GitS franchise in general deserves its reputation as a masterpiece.

        Orion is amazing.

It explains the world of Japanese Gods & Demons in a future-retro setting, it is brilliant! Cant believe some people on here dont know who Masamune Shirow is !!

By the way, APPLESEED comics layout a timeline for the future - Shirow even talks about terrorism in an interesting way.... he is very knowledgable.

Didn't enjoy the two CG Appleseed films. Replacing the political intrigue with more "I have two guns!"-backflipping-bullet-time-fight-sequences wasn't a good move. Pity Shirow is too busy drawing shiny CG-laden posterbooks to finish the Appleseed manga.

I adored and was awed at the original "Ghost In the Shell" movie and I love the "Ghost In the Shell" movies, the "Ghost in The Shell: Stand-Alone Complex" series and "Appleseed" incarnations. Really like Masamune Shirow's work and art, in fact have a few of his "Intron Depot" artbooks and the revamped issues of the "Ghost In The Shell 2 Man-Machine Interface" manga.

There's not many mangaka like Shirow who can create such a mix of delicious babes plastered over the pages in sublime art in a story chock full of action, political intrigue, a frighteningly realistic look on future society and still cram in very interesting philosophical issues and debates like AI, what it is to be human, etc... Yet he does it well, especially in the manga.

Also quite enjoyed the recent "Real Drive" (aka "RD Sennou Chousashitsu") series that Shirow worked on with Production IG. A lot of similar themes to GITS but whole other approach to them.

i have seen both appleseed and exmachina. loved them both. though figures on top are just 1/6 scale they look bigger, maybe cause of the camera angle? i'd like both but went broke suddenly. ^-^

Masamune is a genious for creating both these series. Love Ghost in the Shell(series, and movies). Also love the first Appleseed. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing Ex Machina, but i think i might want it for Chritmas.

It was simply a masterpiece of design. Fully detailed and very action oriented. The story could have been done better if GITS story writer was in charge. But none the less, it was decent. Detail was simply magnificent, and the designs were very conforming to a modern society and felt like it would be a next gen item. The plot advancement was a bit harsh and came in small chunks, but was enjoyable and flowed okay.

I've been an Appleseed fan for a really long time. Too bad, I really wanted one of those figures X_X. They are so high tech and shiny. Great military adaptation into the suits, must have spent quite a long time into it. I don't own anything from Appleseed other than the first movie. Watched the second one but really isn't a fan if I haven't bought the DVD of it yet. Going to in a bit when I collect enough money.

The soundtrack is consistent. It is modern and flows with the progression of plot. The action background music was epic and most suitable for in the groove type of feel. Truly a design master piece! ^_^

Shirow Masamune is my favorite artist. Ghost in the Shell is my favorite movie. GITS:SAC is my favorite series. Anything that comes from the collaboration of Masamune and Production I.G. is a instant buy in my book. I love Appleseed as well but nothing touches Ghost in the Shell. Easily the best plots and scriptwriting anime has ever had. I have two of Masamune's artbooks. Intron Depot 1 and Blades. I have every GITS manga (there are only 3). Whenever I want to show people why I love anime and how deep it can be, I show them Ghost in the Shell.

I prefer the first CG movie over Ex Machina in terms of plot and execution.

I'm not saying it was bad , but for some reason, the whole movie felt like a big mash up of popular sci fi flicks and the romance equation was a bit overdone.

That said, I enjoyed watching Deunan trip in the party scene.
