So whats Kentucky Fried Chicken like in Japan?

I don't really care about the rumors of Kentucky using alien chickens - the stuff tastes quite good and their menu is full of yummies.
This is their latest product - the deep fried chicken with spice and seaweed. 250 yen per piece. The CM that gets you running out to the nearest Kentucky is below staring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi from Smap who stared in my fave drama Koi ni Ochitara.

I remember Kentucky back in the UK - the fries tasted like paper and the chicken like rubber gloves. Never saw any Kentucky chains in the US though. Is it not popular over there?
