      I think it's more like if you want to spend money on decent hardware. Buying a mac is likely something you should do if you need a new computer anyway (or is richer than we are).

      I can think of one reason not to get decent hardware. One guy told me that he on purpose use crappy computers only because otherwise he will end up gaming and if he starts, he will not stop. Using software to block gaming (like no installed games) didn't work in the long run, so now the hardware can't handle it. At least he is honest with himself and picked the solution that gives enough time for his education ^^

      I'll keep using PC with Windows if I still did not find any strong reason to use Mac (and, yes, alot of spare unused cash will do).

      Until now, even Windows are so crappy (for some reason) but still serve me like a loyal servant, and I like it that way. XD

      Yep, they are expensive, why would anybody who wants to play games would spend money on mac? That's the main reason I use pc, I also hate that trendy image they are trying to get "join the mac community!!11" I just want a computer, not to join some retarded community. :/

          It's kind of hard to find a better PC for the same price. I wrote about that issue here: http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/1621/Mac+Fan.html#comment391833

          Also the OS isn't crippled. It's actually a well working OS that can deal with everything an OS should handle.

            You can get a PC for cheap if you have the know-how to buy components and build your own PCs ^^ Pre-made PCs are almost all junk anyways! Though you have little choice for laptops, which tend to be a bit better quality anyway.

            The strength of Mac is you buy one and don't need any hardware know-how whatsoever since it's premade and good quality, but you pay a premium for that. It's nice Mac started using Intel and you can dual boot Windows, but hardware-wise the hand built PC will always be better bang for your buck. Personally I like both PC and Mac for their own purposes, though.

              Agreed.
              I like both, and eventually I will own one of each.
              But at the current time, Windows serves the purposes that I need it to, so Im sticking with it. Once I start working in the field, Ill definitely invest in a Mac.

        I feel sorry that you think that way. Especially since numerous Mac computers have been rated the best in the mid-range category. And that they even created the "Boot Camp" program that allows you to install Windows XP or Windows Vista, which means that it can be a hybrid Mac/PC and play games for either system.

        Besides, after using for nearly a year now, it made me appreciate Macs more. The OS system on a Mac is so much more flexible that I do not worry about losing files, crashes, and other things. Plus, I could go to a Mac store and not be told this one brand is bad when in fact it is as good as the one they want me to buy.

        Oh well... The only downside I see right now is that even though they were on the Board of Directors, they have yet made a Mac with any kind of a BD-Rom drive. Makes me hope that will change when I can afford a new Mac computer.

        And also... Just wondering. You do realize that you just insulted a community that Danny is part of, right? And calling a community retarded means you are generally implying that it is such as a whole and not a partial. Hence, you are calling those who choose to be part of that community just that.

        And here... I was hoping that "don't flame" topic would make people realize you cannot do that, since you will insult people. Only to be insulted by somebody who chose to say that on pure assumption, as well as a preference to downgrading a side that they believe does not support Windows. -_-;;

      Your logic is flawed. It's like having 3 guys. A is 160 cm, B is 165 cm and C is 170cm.
      B > A (165 > 160)
      C > A (170 > 160)
      C=B (170 = 165)
      I can start to explain a lot of theory about logic conclusions, but I think the example is good enough :)

      I think that's more like what you are used to use. I bet you can find mac users who finds windows confusing.

      This reminds me of when I needed a notebook. I had a mac desktop so I decided on something running XP since it would allow me to use windows only software as well. The desktop should still be the main system. The result was that after having the notebook for like two weeks, some guy saw my setup and said "I have never seen anything like this before. You totally skipped setting up the stuff people normally modify but you made custom settings in the stuff that's so complex that other people normally avoid it and you installed nice 3rd party tools to set up your computer specifically for your needs. This shows that you are very well aware of how computers work, but you know next to nothing about windows". I guess that would fit my description quite well at the time :)

    You guys... Do you understand that thanks to "Boot Camp", that you also have generally lost Windows XP and Windows Vista to Mac as well? I mean, by this time next year, Macs will become the closest thing to a perfect hybrid computer system, while PCs will just use Windows.

    Boot Camp: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bootcamp.html

    Meaning that you can switch between OS systems, and only have to do such with one computer. Which means you just need to buy a Mac, set up the needed drives, get either Windows OS system, and add it to your Mac. And that means you paid the price for one computer and one extra OS system for the price of two different computers.

    Which now makes me want to ditch my Sony Vaio laptop for a new Mac, since the one I have is an iMac G4, and the only other computer I have access to is an eMac. -_-;;

    I just don't understand the fanaticism behind the debate, why are there PC users who spit upon Mac, and Mac users who spit upon PC? Why do people have to hate? You know Danny wrote a nice article about haters... Having a personal preference is ok but keep it to yourself and don't try to impose upon others.

    PC and Mac each have their pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses. How about getting both and being very happy instead? (゚∀゚)

      I totally agree with you. I understand the people who wonders about "the other one" and might ask questions about it, but this is getting way out of hand. This even happened at the same time as Danny ended up in Mac Fan and the same thing happened to that thread.

      I like DC because it doesn't suffer from the usual "I know better than you and if you think otherwise, then you are stupid" issue. However I think that description fits somewhat well on what goes on here D:

      At least if you want to talk about which OS is best, then do it on a reasonable level with decent arguments and without statements like "Mac-Brainwashing!!!".

        Agreed. I finally signed up to this site because I thought people would respect each other regardless of difference in personal choices. And what do I see?

        -One person calls the Mac Community "retarded" because Apple does things differently.
        -Multiple people badmouth Mac for whatever reasons they can assume it true.
        -And we have the "Mac Brainwashing" bit, which is pretty much completely lame to say.

        I mean, yes... No other company has offered to make a computer that is like a Mac. Meaning people will immediately assume that the Mac is going to be expensive and not have what they need, which a PC can offer. Then comes the one program that allows them to have both a Mac and PC rolled into a single Mac computer. They do not know about it, since they just assume anything and everything else about the Mac format.

        I personally chose a Sony Vaio when I wanted a PC. Half the time, I am happy with it. Mostly because my Mac is a desktop. But I also dislike it because I had more issues with the OS and stuff back it up. Yet, I stick with it and try to figure out how to work around it. That was then.

        Now... I want to replace both computers with Macs. Because that way, I can use a Mac when I need to, and then go Windows for other things. My choice, and that is where I currently stand. And because of that, as well as using both OS systems... You will never find me bad mouthing anything about this, since it is a waste of time.

        I will give my opinions, but not anything else that does against what I call the "philosophy of the community of DC". :3

      I'll have to agree that I'm starting to feel unconfortable with all the Mac posts lately too... but they are not only from Danny, they are also from DC members.

      I just don't want DC to be one more place with tons of PC vs Macs posts... Gizmodo is already bad enough on this issue. It's the only problem I have with it.
      Attracts too many trolls, and ruins several otherwise good posts.

      As far as I see it, both computer brands have strong and weak points, and there are far too many fanboys of both platforms, so it's best if we forget about them and focus our attention on the good stuff: 2D girls, idols and general japanese/otaku culture. XD
