Im also going to be doing this when I go to Japan. Its going to be so awesome, I know I will feel ssafe because I wont be carrying around anything important a lot of times, except when I need it, and when Im tired, I can just fall on the ground and take a snooze

Wow can't wait to do that when I visit Japan, I first would be in the middle of a doorway, then jam a revolving door, then an automatic door, then against a window wear people on the other side eat.

I wish I could have sleepy time when and where ever without the police bothering me, breathalysing me and people trying to write stuff on my face while the other stuff is happening.

these people should take my approach to life at least once a week. Sleep while at work, for small bursts of about 20 minutes. That way you get payed to sleep :)

When you have the time and money to go to Japan, you'd be sleepy all day from partying all night! I made it the time of my life, that's for damn sure.

Sleeping like this is a certified way of getting mugged...at least here anyway. Some of these are understandable like on the train but others were a little bold. Crime must be very low in Japan is what I am thinking according to some of the locations these people pass out at. The last one looks disgusting, did he go to sleep and end up having someone throw up on him??

Pretty funny to see people sleeping in the middle of nowhere in Japan. I wouldn't be surprised if a person suddenly slept in the street....

But hey, may not be great for most, but it's good for thieves I guess.

I sleep thruogh class, does that count? I tried once on a sofa couch, woke up with like a line along my face cuz my head was sleeping on the arm rest.

I once saw a lady sleeping on the floor in the void deck of a block of flats. The only thing that kept me from going closer was that she had her back propped against the wall, unlike some of those in the pics who looked as though they were pistol-whipped from the back by the Master Chief. XD

Actually, this DOES happen in America, though I guess only in a few places. My university is unique in the sense that the student unions and many of the academic buildings have couches and armchairs, sometimes whole areas of them. Roughly half of the second floor of the main union is couches. Just walking through these areas every day, you see loads of people sleeping sprawled across these couches, sometimes having pulled multiple chairs together.

It took me a while to realize that this wasn't something that happened everywhere.

Ok, those are f'n funny as hell images. In America, you'd see the same, but they'd be dirty more or less and probably soaked in pee. I recall that while social decorum is paramount in Japan, all bets are off if you get totally rip roaring drunk and take a nap outside. This is usually preceded by a fist fight with a similarly drunken co-worker you may have disagreed with. Japan is cool that way, men can still be men and no one minds.

i start to fall asleep in biochem and my head starts to wobble down and i try to force myself to stay awake and it looks like im really paying attention LMAO

a large majority claims to not understand him- i make due, but i might understand more if he lectured in japanese

I have never seen somebody sleeping in public, at least not here in Zurich. I think the police (or older ladies) would wake you up and ask you what you were doing.

As for the US, I tend to notice that public sleeping is more common in larger cities-- Orlando, Los Angeles, Atlanta, etc. I'm originally from a smaller town that isn't anywhere near as developed as those places. If I were to sleep in public at my hometown, I'd have a cop taking me in for either loitering, trespassing, or suspected public intoxication.

However, as a student at a major university, I see it on a daily basis... Heck, in fact, there's someone right now sleeping on the floor 3m from me with his shoes off.
