Due out next march is Nendoroid Nozomu Itoshiki from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - more pics at GSC. Retail price is 3,500 yen and inludes a rope to hang him with...

Me never got round to watching the show - decent?

"...inludes a rope to hang him with" Ahaha...that's going to seem so weird to people who don't know what the show is. xP I can only imagine what my parents would think.

Speaking of which, there's a typo there - "includes" needs a "C". Didn't notice that earlier.

its iconic cause it caught the persona of the japanese. itoshiki and his students are the embodiment of japanese society and added to the the witty sarcasm and dry humor and sometime epic weird, SZS really captures the spirit to be an icon. not much anime can make fun out of itself and japanese society and still not become morbid ^^; I recommend it to those we in-depth or more familiarity with japan's culture or else it will be boring

and oh, I've been waiting for this for ages. Bet it'll arrive here in ph around april or may, enough time for me to save up *u*

I highly recommend the anime if you've got a sense of humor that can appreciate absurdity, especially in the realms of social commentary. This is the anime equivalent of Johnathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels except it covers the life of a dysfunctional teacher with a class of dysfunctional students.

I absolutely adored the first run of the show, but the second part (zoku zetsubou sensei) left me in despair. The opening sequences for each are still amazing, though.

I love the fact that the nedoroid comes with a rope.

      It's very good.

I didn't take much not of it at first because I thought a show about a pessimistic and suicidal teacher would just end up being all dark, boring and emo. I WAS SO WRONG! It's nothing like that and that is the charm behind it.

I totally regret not watching it sooner and I would recommend it to anyone.

the series is very good. but watchin it with subs requires intense attention, so many reference flying by, dialog can get fast and there are tons of captions in the background that i can never catch it all in one go.
this is not an entry level anime for the uninitiated.
