Death Note Rewrite
The three hour special will be aired from 8pm to 11pm. They are calling it a three hour special but I suspect that at least 30 mins of that is going to be commercials.
So whats new then? Well there will be scenes that wasn't shown in the anime series and the thing that makes this edition special is that the story is told from the viewpoint of Ryuk.
They will also show some scenes of the new Death Note live action movie to be released on Feb 9th 2008.
Folks who are not in Japan will probably be able to enjoy "Death Note Rewrite" a few days after from your fave fan-subbers.
Just thought I would mention that I translated "Rewrite" from "リライト" which is also the same spelling for "Re-Light" - but I'm guessing its Rewrite ^^;

I was also hoping for an alternate ending - preferably one where Raito kills Matsuda slowly and painfully (I really despise that idiot - how on earth did he become a police anyway?).
As for the movie, are the directors going to let the same actor play Raito? (They probably are.) That's a shame; that actor ruins Raito's image, both internally and externally.

I was never a fan of Tatsuya Fujiwara as Light Yagami. The saving grace was Shidō Nakamura voicing Ryuk and Ken'ichi Matsuyama's wonderful performance as L in part I.
Seeing Ryuk's perspective does sound somewhat appealing, but I am not a fan of fillers in general unless they are wrote and directed well (case in point: Full Metal Alchemist the anime).
