Akihabara News have a simply gorgeous video of Tokyo - and not just any video. Its taken with the Canon 5D mark II. They have uploaded the full HD video (1.81GB) here but if you cant be bothered then at least give the daily motion version a whirl.

Just got my Kiss 2 and wont be getting a digital SLR that can record HD video unless the price drops significantly.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

I'll watch the full HD video later on. I got Kiss 2 too by the way and that's good enough for me.

entry level DSLR can go at rm1.3k(usd300).
unless you are comparing it to entry level p&s.

Oh yeah, I saw that video... just gorgeous/awesome!
Really has that professional studio feeling.
The only problem is that it was too hard on my poor laptop processor, so it came all chopped on HD.

Like I said on the comments, if this camera had a mic input, I'd even consider buying one in a near future... because you know, it's stil a DSLR... too pricey for my poor pocket.

@_@ at Robo's recent lack of income but purchase of 3 new gaming devices.

anyway, i was just wondering, would there be any issues if videos of people you filmed while going around were put up somewhere on the Net?

as for me, my interest in an SLR has increased due to the difficulty of getting good night shots while i was in Tokyo but being unemployed atm, it's tough to commit to something this expensive. probably when i get a new job, i'll get an SLR with my bonus or something. ^_^

i would never buy a DSLR just because it can also do HD video
if i wanted to do that, i'd just buy a HD camcorder/whatnot.

While there are some full HD camcorders out there, it's to my knowledge that they aren't the best for taking pictures. This camera takes the best pictures and is capable of getting the best video recording, all on to 1 "compact" unit. (i use the word compact loosely)

It's bad enough carrying a dslr around with you on a trip/convention I am sure. But now you don't have to lug around a Full HD Video camera around with you too.
The dude who has this cam at anime expo you know is going to be big pimpin.

I am sure there is also another number of advantages to this as well. We don't have an actual price set on it yet, to my knowledge, but I imagine after the initial release and the price drops down, its going to be more affordable than buying a top tier dslr and full hd cam as well.

When I improve over the next few years, will buy something at this level. Not just for HD video since that would be a little silly.

Currently I have a Canon 20D, 5D that is on loan from a good friend and my classic film SLRs. Hopefully I can keep my 20D alive for a long time to come. It is a remarkable camera.

This video is incredible! I was impressed with the quality. We're planning on getting a Nikon D90 in the very near future (hopeully before Christmas or shortly thereafter).

I got the Kiss 2 as well (called the 450D in Europe), and I like it. It's my first DSLR and I'll be keeping it for quite a while. Just need an extra lense :)

As great as the quality may be, I'm not sure that I'll be buying one right now...
