Of course! manga is what started the process of taking the story into japanese animation.

I subscribed to Shonen Jump for a number of years (I no longer do, never bothered to resubscribe) and now as a college student I grab the volumes I need (tonka-ban? pardon my very harsh terminology) at my local bookstore.

What's nice is places such as Waldenbooks and Borders Bookstores have the MOTHERLOAD of Manga in the USA. There is literally just a wall, perhaps 80 feet long and a story high full of manga. Sometimes they do buy 3 get 1 deals for the peeps like me who love to buy in bulk ^^. While it may be difficult to find anime DVDs in the USA (at least for me) there is manga like no friggin tomorrow. I actually have a membership card with the chain now because I buy so much friggin manga. My collection is worth around $399.50 USD, and compared to others out there, that is a relativly small collection.

I have the entire Rurouni Kenshin series, all volumes 1-28 and I am currently working on an ultimate Bleach collection. I enjoy other titles to: a friend in another state/area got me interested in the Hellsing manga produced by *shock* darkhorse comics (american comic book company) and from time to time I enjoy Love Hina.

IMO manga in paper form is much nicer to read than online ones. It gives the sort of feeling of not knowing what you would get when you turn a page. very much like a novel which is really enjoyable.

For some reason I always like to read my manga from a proper book or Tankōbon . My most favorite currently is Yotsuba&! which is also easy to read.

I don't know if it just me but the few Japanese sites i visit seem to have a higher then average rate of poor design and interface. Wonder why that is???

I have a fair amount of translated manga, most of which are from Shonen Jump. (The prices are great slightly cheaper.) I do however want to learn Japanese through authentic manga, though I have no idea how I would be able to translate it as I read.. Does everyone just buy both english and japanese versions and read simultaneously? ^^;

i find english manga really weird to read. there are some things that get lost in translation so they have to make up phrases or figure of speeches that relate to the asian counterpart, and something gets lost in the translation. prefer them in korean or japanese :x

I dont read much manga these days. I dont get much time to read (save for when im on the loo) and whenever im reading, i try to read my language books.
I find it harder to 'get into' a manga too. Anime is far more visually intresting for me - i can tell if its worth watching or not.

Well, the biggest problem I have with manga is that there's always an anime for some reason :P. I mainly read Marvel comics but recently started pickin up Yotsuba&! - it's great ^^

I only wish I had the time to learn Japanese to read the manga from sites like the one you suggested. They teach a class at the UW campus but it's a 6 credit course. I only wish I had that kind of time.

yes i read manga. I have hundred of them at home. currently reading Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Detective Connan and Full Metal Alchemist.

My all time favorites are Slam Dunk and Dragon Ballz.
