I can think of boring ways to review a Dakimakura. Like, is the fabric used good quality? Does it feel nice or does it have that cheap scratchy feel. Are the printed pictures of a good quality, with crisp lines, clear colours and no blotchy or unevenness. Is the actual pillow good quality? Is it soft and fluffy, or is it that cheap bulky filling. Is it nice and even, or does the filling feel all clumped together.

So yeah, that's one way you could review it XD

Good points, but a "dakimakura" really refers to the covering, not the actual pillow inside. You usually wouldn't buy them together, it'd be too bulky to easily handle in stores/ post service/etc.

Easy to stow into a suitcase. Done that twice.
Except I didn't know the second one was much fluffier than the first. But it kind of matches the cover material since it was more smooth too.

A "boring" review would contain all the needed practical information like:
-is it washable without losing the image?
-is it easy to get rid of stains?
-is it durable enough for a pillowfight or similar hard physical exposure?
-tips for quick hiding when family members pays an unexpected visit ^^

I'm sure some people in here will be interested in the answers to those questions... personally I have enough mess to keep my stuff away from praying eyes from family members (specially those who comes in without knocking). I don't think I can manage anything of this size ^^

Quote: "if anybody has any 'interesting' ideas of how to 'review' a dakimakura then let me know ^^;"

How about rating dakimakuras based on a few criteria?
    1) comfort level - how comfortable you feel when you're hugging it/with it/sleeping with it/doing your exercises
    2) texture quality - how good it feels (the cloth's texture)
    3) picture quality - how well-drawn the pose is, and the overall picture.

those are what i look out for when i'm buying a dakimakura anyway...

Oh, new figures. ^^ You could take pictures of yourself with the dakimura to show how comfy they are. Or have someone else do it.

I think the idea is that you place them in your bed and do whatever you like when you are around them (and specially if you are alone with them). I think the "right" way depends on what you want to do so it depends on who you are :)
