As far as I know, Softbank is the only provider in Japan that rents out sim cards by themselves to visitors without residency. The other providers only provide phone+sim card together. Bit of a pain in the arse since I'd rather use my own keitai than...
Yeah studying outside in random places like mcdonalds and stuff has been a necessity, since studying at home tends to creep to studying the internets <_<
Meh, if I remember right wifi-enabled phones are a fairly recent thing in Japan, besides NEC's phones. I know the winter refresh saw the first wifi-enabled flagship keitai from Sharp on softank(940sh).
JAL uses old as hell 747s on NRT-YVR while Air Canada uses brand spanking new 777s with a much nicer interior on that route, while charging less, and people wonder? The JAL flights are still full for the most part though, since Japanese people seem t...
Hey, they haven't imploded yet, even if they'll be delisted soon. I'm sure they'll continue to honor the miles anyways. Oh well, as long as they keep running YVR-NRT it'll be okay, otherwise AC will start gouging us in Vancouver ._.
There's no third option in these polls, only a sith deals in absolutes!
Aaaaaaaaanyways, yeah it's been a while since the Star Wars days, but it's seems like something most people at least have passing knowledge of. I don't think I've met anyone wh...
If that rice bowl was bought here in Vancouver, especially from T&T, you'd be able to see the oil glistening off it XD But yeah the Asian food in general is quite good over here~
The cloudy skies remind me of how depressing the weather here will be in Vancouver for the next two months >_>"
Oh and there was this Chinese comedy movie that was quite a big hit where the characters went all around Hokkaido with lots of hi-jinks,...
I thank god we have T&T Supermarket over here. You never know how good they are until you spend a while in a place that doesn't have an asian supermarket D:
One benefit of getting a JR rail pass, you can go back and forth between Yodabashi and the rest of Akiba by going direct through the JR station rather than walking around =P
I really don't see the need for SSDs in mainstream use. Yes, it is a lot faster, but given the cost and how little the improved speed actually helps the average application, you aren't getting a very good return on the huge sum a nice SSD such as an...
Love these places, especially the ones in the JR station. You can be in and out within five minutes and be (somewhat) full. They're also quite cheap, for example a bowl of kake(just noodles and broth) udon is usually ~$3 if I remember right, dependin...
The carsets they use for the NEX are exclusive to that run and it's a LEX(limited express) route so yeah similar to the shinkansen there's nothing but forward facing seats like on an airplane. That and the route is never actually that crowded =P
I don't think you can do chikan on the NEX...it's got front and rear facing seats only and none of the corner spots where it usually happens. Oh and if you've ever taken it, there's people rolling a food cart up and down the cars every 5-10 minutes o...
The bus system in Japan really threw me off when I first tried it. Coming from North America I went to the front of the bus to get on and got a lot of really weird looks, took me forever to figure out how the pay system worked >_>
