I was recently telling my grade 6 class (In Canada) about how kids in Japan traveled to school alone... It's also something I was very surprised by when I first arrived in Japan.
I didn't have an emergency earthquake bag until my first earthquake experience knocked a bunch of my stuff over in the middle of the night and scared me half to death. Needless to say, a bag was packed the very next day.

I spent most of my life in the country which is why I don't appreciate it very much, I think. I do like getting out and seeing some countryside scenery but I find myself wanted to get back to the city very quickly.

Some of my fonder memories of Japan are at Matsuri in japan :) My favorite was a small one in a town called Hashimoto just outside of Tokyo somewhere in Kanagawa. Some of my fonder memories are from the allnighters that went on after the matsuri :D

it's not really popular in Canada, I got looked at strangely when I came home from Japan with a giant Cheshire cat tail on my phone. Also I bought a bunch for friends/family and about 80% thought they were weird key chains, not something youd put on...
I'm definitely not a fan of the yearly medical check up in Japan D: I wish I would have had this guide to read before I went in for it the first time ... I was like a deer caught in headlights the whole time O____O
