I live alone. It can be rather expensive sometimes. The quiet can be nice, though I usually end up going out to eat a lot to get out of the apartment some (I also work from home). Most of my social time is actually from my Japanese classes.
One thing I like about design 2, is how he's handled the live blogger posts. The extra bit at the top makes it easier to tell what blogger you're reading.
Anki is a good program and one I try to use every day. I really should try to pick up some manga or something that I could read. That could probably make studying more interesting.
Fan pages are nice since they actually show up in the normal feed while updates to groups don't. That said, I would notice something you post to twitter before I'd notice it on FB since I tend to read twitter updates more often.

I did enjoy all the parks around Japan when I was there this summer. I suppose there are a few parks around where I live right now but I've not gone to any of them.
I haven't decided when I'll make the upgrade though the character recognition through the touchpad seems quite neat.
