Lack of light makes it look more like China. I didn't find that a dimly lit Wuhan was that romantic, more like dangerous with all the holes in the sidewalks :)
Wow I love that last photo of the sleeping salaryman. Now that's professional sleeping.
I always hate it when sleeping people try to rest on your shoulder on a Japanese train. Wow, unless they're cute girls of course!
I missed the quake by 99 days. Last year I also missed the volcano chaos by 3 days and the UK snow chaos by 2 days.
I'm sure there was an earth tremor when I was in Tokyo in 2008. Maybe they're so routine that nobody's too bothered about them.
Wow, plenty of empty shelf space in Family Mart, has there been panic buying of Pokky?
Plenty of healthcare material but no toilet tissue, that's bad!
Food shortages are strange - I visited China once and KFC didn't have any chicken. So we had to e...
It's so sad seeing what's happening. I was in Japan in December. I was also there last April. Due to incredible timing with my travel plans I missed the Icelandic volcano chaos by 2 days, the Heathrow snow chaos by 1 day and the earthquake by 99 days...
I had a Tamagotchi, but I went off to Uni and my brother was supposed to look after it but it died :-(
I got a strange alarm clock in Akihabara last year but I've never figured out how to use it apart from setting the time. It has a man in it and if...
Nice view!
I went up 6 skyscrapers this time in Japan. My tip is to always go up just before sunset.
The Mori Tower was great, although the routine for having to pack your belongings away before going on the roof was quite complex. I'd love to be u...
Been to Japan twice now and prefer travelling without a tour guide as you get to go wherever you want, and you can spend 6 hours in Manadrake if you want to!
*However*, I think someone who can organise idol photo sessions/signing sessions for touris...
I was staying in Shinagawa last week - the Shinagawa Prince Hotel is pretty good, and very reasonably priced. It's also really close to the station which is ideally situated for the important bits of Tokyo (Akihabara and Shinjuku are both about 20 mi...
Wow, I'd love to suddenly acquire a camera, the EOS 50D would do nicely. Oh well I'll have to make do with my 300D for another year. At least now I have the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 lens to go with it though :-)
Karasu scared the hell out of me in Tokyo, the first day I was there I wondered what the bird noise was. Now I listen out for them when watching anime.
Our UK crows don't cause so much damage, but our sea gulls commute from the seaside into towns du...
Wow great photos!
In 2000 I was coding ASP in London at the height of the dotcom boom. I was earning more than my age in UK pounds. Our secretary was trying to stop sneaky recruitment consultants trying to get our phone numbers so they could offer u...
I think Gatchaman (G-Force) got me hooked on Japanese culture from an early age as well.
Visiting Japan is a good thing to do as well. In fact, so good that I'm going again this year!!!
I was surprised by the number of homeless in Tokyo - there were lots around the fringes of Akihabara and in Shinjuku.
One guy in Shinjuku had a cat on a lead, which was kinda cool.
Cool figure!
I'm available for otaku programming work (C#, .NET, SQL Server, ASP, PHP etc.) if anything comes up.
I started my own software business back in 2002 after I lost my job in the dot com crash. It took a lot of motivation, especially to w...
Yes the amount of healthcare stores in Akihabara is pretty surprising, especially as some have 7 floors of the stuff (so I've heard).
There's also a lot of these interesting types of stores in Shinjuku.
I picked up lots of small giveaway posters in Akiba itself, they were mainly advertisments for games, figures and 2D healthcare material, but the artwork is wonderous.
I didn't find the public toilets in Japan too bad - they were certainly better than in the UK.
Toilet cubicles being too small was a more common problem - it seemed the larger the electric toilet was installed, the smaller the cubicle.
The Japan Centre is in London's Piccadilly, and it has a great selection of Japanese food. Packs of House Curry were recently on special offer at just 99p each, so I bought a massive stash of them. Last weekend they also had a huge new selection of i...
