It's things like this that make me want to collect figures. But then I remember the cost of the cool ones I saw during my trip to Japan and the lack of space I have for them and I reconsider. *sigh* Still, awesome pictures!
During my trip to Japan in October, I noticed a lot of different drinks available but I had a hard time finding my favorite one in vending machines: Mountain Dew! The only time I saw it (and I bought it of course) was a vending machine in Akibahara.
To answer your question about Evangelion, I'd say you aren't missing much. I think it's a highly overrated series, myself. That being said, you probably ought to watch it for yourself and judge. You may like it.
If you add up all of Char's different suits there, it might beat out the RX-78-2! Cool list though. My favorite from the original series is Char's Gelgoog. All time favorite Gundam is Char's MSN-04 Sazabi from Char's Counterattack.
