I had the same problem as yours, I just use a very sharp pencil and made the hole a little bigger so the thing could fit in at ease.
Not to mention I broke the circular hole thingy on her vest by accident -_-

For my case, my room isn't that big plus just a single glass display cabinet took up so much space.
The only place I could place my figures are in the display cabinet or just on my table(which I hardly have much space for them as well, frankly speak...
Well, I would say that the boxes for some of the figurines are actually "unique" so a couple of pictures of the boxes would be great.

Got mine from Ikea as well(in my region that is), it's cheap for that kind of size.
Though I've kinda ran out of space in my cabinet and I've left my extras on display on my table. ~_~
