Thanks for the wonderful photos Danny. It was interesting to see how much Akiba has changed since I left. Though parts of it are still the same as I remember. How I wish I could go back someday. (: And to answer your question. My favorite store...
My name Andrew but I go by Punynari nearly everywhere. I live in Hawaii and work at NCTAMS PAC, a Naval Computer and Telecommunications facility. My job is primarily Naval messaging and trouble tickets. Previously, I served aboard the USS Mustin o...
Wonderful news! Back when I visited the Gundam in Odaiba and Shizuoka it was definitely the highlight of my years in Japan. Although I won't be able to see it this time, I hope it will be around for many years to come. (:
Wonderful photos Danny. Osaka was a fun place and Namba was certainly my most visited location. (: There's so much good food there that I ate way too much in one sitting though. ^^;
I'm going to miss it. Radio Kaikan was indeed a landmark and one of the first places I would check out on my "Akihabara runs". If I ever go back to Japan, I'm really going to miss it's big yellow sign as I come out of the station. Good on you for t...
Not so much now-a-days. I'm shore based now in Hawaii but there's always a possibility that I might be deployed for a year in the Middle East, Africa, or elsewhere on an IA (Individual Augmentee). Hopefully not though, I like it here. ^^;
Dat Azusa... :3 But seriously, she is a cutie. I've been cutting back on figures lately but I might allow myself to indulge just one more time for this pvc sugary cuteness. ^^
Glad you had fun in China, Dannychoo. I've always wanted to go someday, especially Hong Kong but my ship never got the chance to stop there when I was stationed in Yokosuka. Wish America was on more friendly terms with China so that we could have...
I think the most I've ever paid was $30 for Neon Genesis Evangelion VHS at my local mall. I think those only came with 2 episodes a piece, but it's been so long that my memory is fuzzy. But no, I can't afford to pay Japanese prices for anime. All m...
What a cute and happy expression Miku has. If it's at all possible, I'll be sure to order one. Thanks to Good Smile for supporting the Japan relief effort!
Good to see things returning to normal. Personally, I haven't been in any natural disasters but I have seen just a little bit of the hording that goes with panic. In Oahu, Hawaii, when news of the tsunami hitting Japan spread there were sirens blari...
Thanks for writing this. I was curious to how things were going in Tokyo (without the sensationalism). Seems very orderly compared to other countries during a crisis. Do stay safe though. I'm praying for you and for the rest of Japan (and all US s...
It has to be Mount Fuji. There was times when I forgot I was in Japan (when on US military bases), but when you look over the hills and see that enormous snow-capped mountain, you quickly remember where you are.
Nice to see Mountain of Faith getting some love. Hopefully Griffon will do Subterranean Animism and UFO as well. Want a Captain Murasa figure bad (with huge anchor please)! :3
Wow! That Touhou Yukari looks like it might be pretty sweet when it's fully painted. I've been holding out on buying a figure of her because I haven't seen one yet that does her enough justice. Some of the nendoroids look pretty sweet as well. Of...
Nice boat. :3 That is a seriously nice boat but, like you said, I'm one of those people that likes to go topside on a river cruise (feel the wind/walk around). I might not have enjoyed the ride as much.
Beautiful pics. I loved Okinawa even though I never got a chance to leave the base. If I got a chance to go to Naha though, I'd actually be more interested in visiting the castles and WWII ruins then the beach. Perhaps someday...
Looks like Hawaii has Kawaii Kon 2011 Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM - Sunday, May 01, 2011 at 6:00 PM Hawaii Convention Center 1801 Kalakaua Avenue Honolulu 96815 http://kawaii-kon.org/ Might be a good place to relax a bit as well. :)
Since leaving Japan, all of my figure purchases will be online. There is just no anime stores like Asia in Texas and on the off chance they do carry anime goods, it's mostly from shows like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. ^^; Nice store btw. Looks...
That last image is of Yokosuka Naval Base. Guess the Japanese were visiting at the time. Never saw Yoshika though, otherwise I'd have to ask her "PLEASE BE MY WIFE!!" ^^;
Saw these "lucky bags" for sale last year at the Akiba Volks store. Everyone was trying to peek into all the bags but they were sealed tight. Some bags were around Dollfie Dream sized but I didn't want to take a chance and end up with model kits or...
