I would love to see female in animegao a.k.a anime kigurumi OR kigurumi for short
I would say VERY GOOD! and thumbs up! if the person inside the kigurumi is really a female
my nightmare is....first i really seem to interest by watching kigurumi and i think they were cute but...after notice inside that kigurumi is male.....i was like....yuck....disgusting
Yeah, some of the cosplay stuff is a little too intense for me!
Kigurumi are the coolest things...
I know right?! Lol rofl
I know right?! It's awesome and right when girls do this, but dudes?!WTH japan is crazy sometimes:/
And I used to think CLOWNS were scary....
*GOKKURI* (*gulp*) /@__@/
That last video looked like Shizuka's mask or anigao on youtube.
Best Kigurumi I've seen was a Piro from Megatokyo costume at Anime Los Angeles a few years ago. Spot on.
Figures and dolfies are one thing, but I will be completely honest: I find Kigurumi to be creepy as sh*t. It dips into a certain level of the uncanny valley for me that borders on complete disgust/terror. To each their own.
yup....that's the one ^.^. That said, with the visibility and all, I really salute the costume actors in Tokusatsu Series.
lol, I can tell with a simple glance, unlike most guys who go TRAP! by the hands or shoulders or hips.
I don't really mind their masks, nor the fact that they don't speak back. Because if you ever go to Disneyland, you'll notice that Mickey and co hardly speaks back either, but they aren't considered scary, are they? Though maybe that's just me.
I think what really makes us here (predominately straight guys) uncomfortable with them is the fact that you don't really know if it's really a girl behind the mask, no matter what a great figure "she" may have. (The figure can easily be faked with some simple application of padding. )
Hehe, I know that one. Its the Decade side stories isn't it.
The 3 lines one is the mask for action scenes.
The normal acting scenes uses a single slit eye hole wasn't it? ^_^;
Well a kigurumi mask has about the same amount of visibility, one eye hole per eye, so 2 holes lol~
Well, low visibility is common for kigurumi, mecha suits, sentais afterall. So skill is necessary~
Its a small sacrifice to look as much as possible as your favourite figurine, mecha, hero etc lar~
haha, kamen rider mask has a very very limited line of sight, got a video from kamen rider spin off that shows the line of sight of decade's mask is only 3 lines O.o
Now this is what I would call "the reality of Anime". Scary but not quite as scary as those porcelain doll shaped vases.
I would go there only if they assure me that those are girls and not guys
Looks like anyone can dress up in a Kigurumi.
Provided it fits your body size of course.
All I could say it's "This is freaking scary....!!"
about the video:
Man!! I have a very sensible stomach =(
I, indeed haven't voted. =(
When Danny said "Now that you voted, you get to see who may be inside of of these kigurumi..." I had a feeling that it would be a trap. Since a Kigurumi is a full body costume, anyone could be under there. That was what I was thinking while looking at the photos.
DO NOT WANT
WTF! DO NOT WANT!!!!
Man, if the girl was cute to begin with, she'd be cosplaying, not kigurumi-ing...(is that even a word?)
So I can give you a 250% guarantee it's not a girl.
And a 500% guarantee she;s not cute.
But the rest of the costume is more comfortable than a Kamen Rider costume, I bet. Wearing one of those would be like a heavier version of Danny's Stormtrooper armor.
BTW: The only way you're getting me to a Kigurumi Cafe is if I'm wearing a Kamen Rider suit. Partly for my own protection and partly to hide my identity. I'm not even comfortable with 'regular' Maid Cafes, so this is WAY out of my comfort zone.
Open your eyes for the next Faiz...
ooo...so these is Kigurumi...
Haha!! I'm so lucky didn't vote any of them! XD
I have a gf that does Kigurumi for me and I translate stuff for her when some convention goers ask her questions.
I will go for Uri-chan but after watching the last video I'm having second thoughts right now.
I've always hated this. Cosplay isn't that bad but this isn't even natural.
It's freaking bizarre.
I'm sorry it's just not for me.
Well! I wanted to be nice ;)
Kinda? It's VERY scary! I want to see one of these in a horror film.
Kill it, kill it with fire!!
WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN...
Anyway, it's not my cup of tea, but whatever makes people happy, I suppose. It's just not aesthetically pleasing for me.
Now I got why they aren't allowed to talk.
"Because most dollers are men, portrayals of female characters often represent a form of crossplay. A long tradition exists in Japan of male stage actors portraying women on stage, as for many centuries women were not allowed to perform in public."
Wonder how pantsu flash would be ? Will the customers get nosebleed after seeing a human skin color body suit under the pantsu ? Not to mention the case they are not genuine girls.
The best, cutest expression :D
Prefer this more than cosplay but not a lot more. The masks could use more work, I think it can be perfect.
After perfecting the mask, we need a voice changer next.
those kigurumi shown above a very well made, quite cute too.
the scary thing about kigurumi is the 'uncertainty' feeling, you don't know who is under the mask of such cuteness we always adore in 2D. and its better left unknown lol
I can appreciate the responses about the unblinking eyes, since I can remember my own shocked reaction when I first encountered this type of costume, but after seeing some of the portraits and acting shown here I get it. Effective body language can compensate for the loss of real eye contact, and even appear kawaii!
What I do not sympathize with are the responses "they better be cute girls underneath" or "it's a trap". If their sex makes no difference to their effectiveness at performing with the kigurumi costume, and I know there would be many males who could be very adept at this, then you should be able to enjoy their illusion without worrying "are they or aren't they?"
cannot unsee!! щ(˚д˚щ)
Must be kinda confusing for the customer figuring out what the kigurumi try to communicate with them. I wonder if they still carry those marker board so they can write what they want to say.
I like them in a sort of way. but I wonder who is wearing the kigurumi and if is as beauty as the character as welll-
Kigurumis creep me out a bit, kind of unfortunate that they cannot talk back to you.
Okay, this is uncanny valley in reverse. Making bots and dolls as lifelike as possible is one thing. But making people to look like anime characters?! Yeah, a mask is one thing, but a whole head prothesis? That seems like taking otaku over the deep end to me.
thats rather creapy :S
To be precise, this looks scary already.
Isn't the reason why they can't talk.... because sometimes they're not just girls doing kigurumi, sometimes its boys too... and that would ruin the fantasy for customers. Maybe...
