no replies in over two months. I wonder if that is because people has nothing to add or if it's because I wrote so much that people just skip it. I put a great deal into summarizing what professionals teach at anti bullying sessions combined with personal experience (basically those two goes hand in hand) and I really hope that people at least read it. Now I have a very simple question: did anybody read this? ( コメントを見る » )

For all we know this could be due to a change in the power grid. The transformer supplying your house might be heavier loaded and due to that the voltage can drop. I guess you should have this checked. A simple voltmeter would do the trick. If your power supply is so weak/unstable then I really recommend an UPS since it would prevent system lockups due to voltage spikes. Generally I consider the investment of an UPS to be worth the investment as you can keep the UPS when you replace the computer so they last longer than other computer utilitie... ( コメントを見る » )

I just had a new idea on what could be wrong. When the computer starts it draws a lot of power. This will in turn make the voltage drop for a short while if your power supply (for the house, not the PSU) is heavily loaded compared to how much it can handle. If the voltage drops below the minimum needed for the computer it dies. What you can do about it... well you can shorten the length of wire between the fusebox and the computer (like using a different power outlet and no extension cord) or you can use an UPS. However I would be more concern... ( コメントを見る » )

looks like none of the "normal" errors are present here so now we will have to make up unlikely ideas about what could be wrong. The only thing I can think of is the one thing I didn't believe in earlier which is static electricity. Somehow your computer could build up more than it could handle. What to do about it... well you could try to ground it. You could also go with Apple's advice when they had static electricity problems with a certain mac (I think this was more than 20 years ago). Their advice was to lift the comput... ( コメントを見る » )

this might sound obvious but have you checked the power cord and tried a known good one? I have seen both short circuited (melted) and ones where the connectors are broken on the inside and there were nothing to see on the outside. I don't think it's a grounding issue as modern computers can do just fine without grounding (note: if the computer isn't grounded it can build up quite a voltage in the case compared to say an external HD... beware) ( コメントを見る » )

it's kind of immature comments and somehow they are just perfect for this picture. Great work. ( コメントを見る » )

I tried "Mirai" and they were big. I then tried "Mirai suenaga" and they were really small. Then I tried "Mirai Suenaga" and they were average. Looks like it makes some sort of checksum on the string and selects an image based on the result.... kind of pointless but still somewhat funny for a short while. ( コメントを見る » )

I generally don't like walkthroughs. Whenever I'm really stuck somewhere I use a page called "universal hint system" ( http://www.uhs-hints.com/ ) The idea is that you click on whatever you are stuck on and it will give you a hint. If that's not enough then you can get another hint on the same thing and so on. Eventually it will give you the solution. Doing it this way will ensure that you only get the info you need and you will not risk read... ( コメントを見る » )

I once saw somebody trying to make a goal on one of these games. He hit the upper part of the goal with such great force that it bounced back and hit his own goal so fast that nobody could react to it.... I want to see that happen on a game of this size XD ( コメントを見る » )

I like kids and I like maids but in a totally different way. Mixing those two are no good. Considering we know how some guys think about maids and specially that those guys tend to show in Akihabara then I consider it wrong to let your child dress like this. I like the comment though. "She’s probably someone’s child". Most children belong to "someone" (usually referred to as parents or guardians). ( コメントを見る » )

I guess it's a matter of taste if you want eroge or not. The first time I saw a bishojo game I thought "interesting. It looks like nice 2D girls and they will show you their... eyes too it seems" so I decided to give it a try. At the time the eyes finally showed up I found myself quickly clicking and thinking "now get done with that stuff. I want to know what happens next in the story". I guess this is basically how I treat bishojo games today and I think they are pretty interesting. For the record: I'm a guy. ( コメントを見る » )

First computer was a Commodore 64. Funny thing happened around a year ago. During lunch somebody mentioned how it was back when people had C64 but nobody had seen them for ages. I couldn't resist but to break in with a true statement "I booted mine yesterday". I was kind of like a hero for the following 5 minutes or so. I'm not sure I have used it since though but I know where it is and can set it up again in no time. What really surprises me is that the disks are still usable. I mean they are like 20 years old and I can s... ( コメントを見る » )

who knows? I read somewhere that it's possible to get ice cream in Japan made from human milk and that it should taste somewhat decent. I don't know if it were a joke though. I saw how they make expensive beefs on TV once. The cattle is given sake on a daily basis and they get sake sprayed on their fur. I'm not sure if it really improves the quality that much (specially the spraying on fur thing) but I can imagine that it makes the beef expensive specially because everything was manually done. It's not that hard to figure out. Look at this photo http://www.panoramio.com/photo/3324192 The roadblock is to indicate that cars aren't allowed to pass. They are easy to move for the police and also cars that speeds up to get through them. ( コメントを見る » )

This link started by showing me a commercial for MSN. The message in it was that it could be scary to sit face to face with people. Since it now involves Microsoft I guess somebody could get a kick out of making a conspiracy theory based on this. ( コメントを見る » )

they might think that you have some sort of wound which can contaminate the water with bacteria and reject you based on this. I wouldn't count on a more freely view of gaijin as some places also bans gaijin because of a history with problematic drunken Russian sailors. The best advice I can give would be to stay away from piercings, tattoos and stuff like that. It's not uncommon that people with (legally earned) money look down on this and since those are usually the people hiring workers for their companies it affects your job oppor... ( コメントを見る » )

Generally I'm against public nudity while I don't mind the old statues. The reason is that the statues act normally and the normally covered parts are just part of the body. Today if somebody makes something exposed then it's most often an act of exhibitionism or meant as a provocation of decent people. The natural view on the human body is rarely seen anymore. I think the reason is that in ancient Greece they didn't have proper clothing so they had to move carefully in order not to end up naked in public by accident. Whene... ( コメントを見る » )

actually there are protests against slaughtering cows. It's not for saving the cows but to ensure that they will not suffer a painful death. Normally cows are taken in one by one and shot in the brain by a bolt pistol. The brain dies instantly and they can't feel a thing (or at least not for long). However some cows aren't butchered like this and there are protests against painful slaughtering. It's kept at a minimum though because the issue is ritual butchering of animals according to Islam where the animal bleeds to death ... ( コメントを見る » )

I once met with some famous people. I think the point was that I hardly knew who they were but somebody wanted to make fun of me and told me to get them to come to our place. Not knowing what I was doing I just walked right up to them and invited them. Surprisingly they accepted and one particular guy ran off when we returned XD I realized that they were somebody so now I have a picture of me sitting with them (and nobody else) with autographs. Didn't fully realize how big it was until they were on the news a few weeks later because they ... ( コメントを見る » )

wow there is a 3rd season. I didn't know so I searched and learned that the 4th season is airing in Japan right now . Kind of odd I missed this as I think specially the first season is one of the best anime I have seen. Oh well... it just means that I have something to look forward to and that's not the worst news you can get :D ( コメントを見る » )

I think I will quote Guybrush from "Escape from Monkey Island™" and say "It's.... Pink!" over and over. I have never seen pink mice or keyboards before. I guess they work like normal input devices except they are... Pink!. However it's not the colour that makes me wonder. It's the choice of figures and breast grapping. I thought that was a male thing to do. ( コメントを見る » )

This is a good one (haven't seen it before). The statement is right though. I know a guy who once woke up and turned on the TV (regular thing to do before going to work) and the first thing he saw was the news and they showed his workplace with like 4 meters high flames. He decided to stay at home that day. ( コメントを見る » )

It's almost impossible to haggle here but not impossible. Maybe it's because people just read the price tag and take it for granted. My greatest achievement was getting ~7% discount on a high end computer. It made me wonder how much they usually earn on each sale. Ok, it might have helped that I was in their customer database already but still it took some creativity. Another time I searched for some hardware online and figured out how much it would cost. Because I didn't trusted the store I went to the local store, asked for the... ( コメントを見る » )
