This seems to be a phenomenon in Singapore as well, though probably not as well-established as in Japan. I'm mostly nocturnal and prefer studying at night, and it's hard to find 24-hr fast food places (not all Macs outlets are 24/7) so I usually end up studying at home or in the school dormitory. Yea, caning does happen in Singapore schools, but it is an officially recognised form of punishment and only given by the principal - I haven't heard of teachers being authorised to carry out caning on their own discretion. And it only happens up to pre-U. Doesn't seem to happen often as far as I observe, though YMMV from school to school. ( コメントを見る » )

It seems many people loosely associate ecchi and hentai with loli as well, giving loli a really bad name -_- Not liking ecchi/hentai loli is not quite the same thing as not liking loli in general. "Loli" refers to the child-like characteristics of (usually underaged) anime characters. Ecchi refers to the characteristics that play on sensuality and sexuality. I can understand why lolicons and pedos are often linked, but I really don't think it's a cause for concern. Lolis are cute because their "cute" characteristics are highly caricatured - eyes, cheeks, voice, etc. I believe it's a play on our protective instincts, and on our desire for things with cute characteristics (soft toys, dolls, etc). And too many people are taking its definition out of context - in the anime context, I believe lolicon refers to a person who likes loli anime characters (and here, "like&... ( コメントを見る » )
