That's one clean work area. When I tried sculpting years ago my bench was an indescribable mess! ( コメントを見る » )

I hve had problems with figures either being warped before they came out of the box or leaning over time - there are various ways to fix this, one is to glue the feet to the base using a hot glue gun - this is tricky because the hot nozzle will melt the figures PVC if you allow it to touch it, the trick is to put a blob of glue on the open joint and slam the parts together quick - if neccessary it can be peeled off fairly easily and won't burn the PVC like superglue does. The most extreme way - generally only the cheaper figures need this ... ( コメントを見る » )

The OAV was very well written, but often dark and violent! But it was good anime. The art shown here is most likely fan art. ( コメントを見る » )

I started collecting figures about 1991 with overpriced - nay, horrendously overpriced - vinyl kits! I bought some ready painted figures in late '90s but they weren't any sort of quality then - those Sega things in the bubble packs were rough, more like made up vinyl kits. Most of my figure collection then consisted of stuff built from resin kits. It was only since about 2001 that I've been impressed enough with the quality of assembled figures to buy them, indeed I've stopped making those infuriating resin kits because of t... ( コメントを見る » )

You might find the lighting effect is due to the stage lighting at the time it was taken, its just a matter of capturing the picture at just the right time. ( コメントを見る » )

I thought the first Eva rebuild movie (You are (Not) Alone) was far more exciting than the TV series - it made me eager to see the rest! The new mechanical animation was overwhelming. Although the new animated scenes were good, and explained the story a bit more directly than the original, I felt they didn't quite mesh with the older ones. Probably they should have redrawn the whole thing. I would agree though that indiscriminate remaking of older anime would not necessarily be a good thing... ( コメントを見る » )

I usually go in November, and it always manages to rain on at least one day. Carrying a folding umbrella is a good idea. When I went first time it was rainy season and the rain was like a warm shower, nothing like the cold driving rain you get here... ( コメントを見る » )

Apparently not as this one has zilch comments!! However I have what I think is the first Lemni 3003, with a Katsuya Terada cover. I like a lot of the artwork - in some ways it's beter than Robot, which is a similar idea, because it's more consistent in theme. Robot has a disconcerting habit of putting cute fairytale things next to ultraviolent fantasy, and it doesn't always work. (I'm on DA as well, try spacejunq.deviantart.com) ( コメントを見る » )

Although I love Japan I think I'll stick to the country I was born in -apart from the fact I'm too old to emigrate I have no business ambitions or talents, and I would prefer to be eligible for national health/social security/a pension! Anyway, you only have to get out of London to see what a fine (if threatened) country England and the rest of the British Isles really is. ( コメントを見る » )

He obviously picked Akiba deliberately because the streets, although coned off on Sunday, are still relatively accessible, and there are usually a lot of people walking in the road. He could have gone for just about any other pedestrianised area in Tokyo on that day. I know the heavier police presence there is resented, but it most likely prevented any further mayhem (he dropped the knife when he saw a copper with a gun apparently). It will remain to be seen what repercussions this will have on the district. Hopefully the spirit of the place wi... ( コメントを見る » )

I find the Obitsu female bodies are the best for 1/6 custom dolls because they stay put when posed, unlike the Volks EB, which won't hold poses and usually collapse under the weight of their own outfits. Both varieties have different eye sizes. I like the Fraulein Revoltech system although I only have one so far. I do not yet have any Figmas but I hope to correct this soon! I looked at the Microman Evangelion Rei and Asuka but wasn't impressed - no attempt seems to have been made to make them look natural, but they were reasonably pri... ( コメントを見る » )

Guided tours cost money... I have been going to Akiba about once a year since 2001, and although I can find the best places, it changes so fast it's hard to keep up. For example Tora no Ana and Gamers keep moving about, and K Books stopped stocking new dojinshi some years ago! ( コメントを見る » )

That's Seyadatara, I think, from an Alice Soft game, most likely Daiakuji but I heard one of the Rance games. Not the first model of her, a different sculpt was released as a kit some years ago. The headgear lights up with the aid of built in bulbs in at least one version of the figure. This sculpt looks like the one by Vispo. She is quite yumsome. ( コメントを見る » )

First one gives the impression Korean otaku are fabulously wealthy, and judging by the shot out of the window, have an army detachment ready to protect their collection. The personal favourite here is interesting, but Viper and Ghost Sweeper Mikami... a bit behind the trends maybe. ( コメントを見る » )

The availability of PVC prepaints is what caused me to stop making GK - it's pretty sickening to spend months of your life doing one of these things then seen it already built and painted in a bubble pack! Besides which PVCs are more durable and have resale value. Probably resin is going to survive for those obscure subjects which wouldn't sell as PVC. ( コメントを見る » )

Seem to remember seeing that photo a while ago. He would only have to dust about half his collection as most of them seem to be (packed into) cases. However this man is some sort of loony, cramming them all in so tight most of them aren't visible is not really an enjoyable collection! ( コメントを見る » )
