Did a PhD, it's definately worthwhile although I ended up going down a completely different career path :-) Would love to work in Japan, as I guess my otaku programming skillz would be in demand but I'm not great at learning non-Otaku languages. It's taken me a year to learn just the Kanjii numbers. Oh well, at least I can dream of going on holiday to Japan again some time. Most of London and SouthEast England is noisy because of planes going to/from Heathrow. There is some talk of moving it to a man made island in the Thames estuary. I'm not sure it will ever happen though. ( コメントを見る » )

I went to Kamakura, which I think is quite near to Enosmima. It was the first time I've seen the Pacific Ocean which was pretty cool. There were some weird fish washed up on the shore and I was going to take a shell home as a souvenir but found it had a crab living in it! ( コメントを見る » )

I live near London, it's a cool city. I make regular visits to the Japan Centre in Picadilly for stocking up on miso, Pocky and wasabi peas. Do you miss Heinz Baked Beans? I don't remember seeing them in Japan, which would be a big problem for me if I lived there. ( コメントを見る » )

Argh. Is that the Chuo line? If my train home was that packed I think I would stop off for a steaming hot bowl of ramen and let the crowds subside. I never saw really busy trains in Tokyo, but the London underground gets bad sometimes, mainly because the trains are built for Victorian sized people. ( コメントを見る » )

Danny, London's new(ish) Jubilee line underground extension to Canary Wharf has barriers to stop you falling onto the tracks. Unfortunately, careless souls tend to get crushed to death by bendy buses instead. :-( ( コメントを見る » )

Had terrible 4 days of jetlag going from UK > Tokyo. Easier going the other way, if you get morning flight from Tokyo and get to UK in mid-afternoon it just feels like unusually long day. ( コメントを見る » )

I'm sure I've walked through that archway. The most cramped place I found in Tokyo was a Shinjuku department store rest room where the cubicles had such massive electric toilets I had to climb on the seat in order to close the door. ( コメントを見る » )
