Looks like you're preaching to the wrong crowd, and I suppose I'm not learning from your mistake, heh, but anyways, here's my interpretation it.
Almost all of you are completely missing the point. Disgusted? That's because the _statues_ are embodiments of a criticism against the shallowness of anime, manga, and otaku culture in general. Nothing too offending with the models themselves, but the photo has a few notable problems.
Destiny's pose is bad. The arms don't look like they're swinging the sword -- they look like they're just merely holding it. Trying swinging a broom or something to get a better sense. Either straighten the elbows a little to make it seem that Destiny is in the process of downward swing, or bend the elbows more and tilt the sword a little backwards to make it seem like the two are in the mi... ...Yeah, I doubt this skit is calling for social awareness on the issue. Satire is the use of wit to critique a certain behaviour, and I really don't think this clip possesses either wit or a critique on the matter.
I guess it's a matter of preferences -- looks like the other posters are having a ball laughing at an old lady with a punctured neck. If this was an animated skit, maybe I would've shared the amusement. ( コメントを見る » )
Ugh, that wasn't very funny...
Neglect of the elderly is an issue in many places (and I would imagine the magnitude in Japan would be significantly larger, due to its inverted population pyramid), and putting the vulnerability of old folks at the butt of a joke isn't very tasteful, especially in such a gratuitous way. Rei and Asuka from Evangelion -- though there have been many incarnations of these two in the form of garage kits and pvcs, there is a severe shortage of examples that combine reasonable pricing, quality, and an accurate depiction of the characters' personalities -- a slightly moody expression would be nice to capture the essence of these two. And considering how consumers gobble up anything eva and the new movies that are being released, putting out some new Asuka or Rei figures would be a splendid idea.
