Here in the US, at least where I live, very very few stores allow you to haggle. But what they will do is if you show them a current ad from one of their competitors they will usually sell something to you at the competitors price if it's lower rather than lose your business to said competitor.
It's customary to haggle on used cars though, even from a dealership, and a lot of people haggle at garage sales. ( View formatted comment » )

One more step towards banning smoking, period. I hate seeing people I care about struggle with addiction, and I have a friend whose father died of lung cancer when he was just a kid.
We have a public smoking ban here too and I love it, but the only problem is you sometimes end up with crowds of smokers hanging out right outside the doors so even though it's outside it's crowded enough to fill the air with smoke, in the one area you have to pass through to get inside.

I had a PS2 crap out on me, and then my second one was literally stabbed to death by my older brother who was not only trying to mod it without my permission, but trying to do so in a way that involved shoving a steak knife into the disc drive and moving it around vigorously until the insides were thoroughly skewered.

At least now though I've pulled the BIOS off my skewered PS2 and use PCSX2 (www.pcsx2.net) to play my PS2 games on my laptop.

I honestly cannot think of a situation where it's worth it to sacrifice cost, performance, ports, optical drive, battery, etc... to get this laptop over a normal 13 inch laptop.
