Even if you don't believe in Global Warming or just don't care recycling is necessary, the largest man made structure is an island of rubbish floating in the pacific ocean...It's twice the size of the american continent. The UN Environment Programme estimated in 2006 that every square mile of ocean contains 46,000 pieces of floating plastic. I don't see how anybody can not see this as bad...
