Where I live, ugh, the fastest home internet package available is 7Mbit down, 1Mbit up, around 20-60GBytes download cap, for $60/month (I'd have to look again, some of these details are wrong). It's essentially highway robbery, and the worst part, you need to subscribe to more "most expensive" package deals to get a laughable 15% discount.

I had I4U (no longer bookmarked), Akihabaranews.com and Japan Probe on my Safari/Firefox RSS feeds more than three years ago, gadgets being my primary subjects of interest. Daimaou's post about Danny the Trooper in Akiba got me interested and I started coming here more often. As for the videos, I still watch Densha Trooper and the original Tokyo Dance Trooper every now and then.

My experience with Ikea is, when they work, they're always of much higher quality than any unknown-named DIY furniture you can get from Wal-Mart and others. My mom recently bought a pair of wooden TV stands from a homegrown department store. One of them is ok, missing a locking bolt on one corner, but the other is completely out of spec making assembly impossible.
May I also say that I can assemble an Ikea furniture in less time and hassle than the other non-brands. ( View formatted comment » )

Considering how ineffective the International Whaling Commission has been in terms of preventing commercial hunting of whales, and the overharvesting of fish stocks on a global scale, this protest is much ado about nothing. I wish I could care, and really I do care about whales being hunted to extinction, but I can't.
Not when people keep chopping trees without any replanting of seedlings, sucking underground water supplies dry, and generally not caring about anything that have long-term consequences to the survival of everybody.

There was a dude in high school that hit my back every so often and say "haha i got you" as soon as he got off. I don't like that guy to begin with. It persisted for about a year; I went from mild ignorance and dismissing it to feeling very angry, intolerable and wanting to make him pay.
