JPOP's been an on and off love affair for me. 10 years ago, I used to rip cd's for the premier mp3 group aSx. After 4 years of amassing a fairly large collection of CD's I realized exactly how much I had spent (average price of $35 per cd) and dropped JPOP cold turkey. Recently though I've been picking it up again after I had by chance, gone to a restaurant here run by the parents of Yuna Ito. Fantastic news! I've been to Tokyo, Paris, Barcelona and Rome over the last two years and I can easily say the worst part about being there was the smoke. The hard part is that it's so ingrained within the culture-- tabacco stores are never more than 5 minutes apart, and the long dead days of the cool smoking cowboy are still alive abroad. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I trust Spielberg, although it would be cooler if Ridley Scott got his grubby mitts on it. It probably won't mirror any of the storylines we know, but be more of like a insightful dilemma filled flick on how machines and complex networks give birth to artificial intelligence and dilemmas that may arise from such an event. I still think Japanese trains are the most pleasant and safe to ride. No matter how insanely packed the trains manage to get, there seems to rarely be any sort of incident. I much rather have it that way than in some other countries where you have to continuously watch who may be standing behind or next to you. I can handle a woman falsely accusing me of being a groping me. Being robbed or pick pocketed straight up sucks. ( View formatted comment » )

Definitely on the list. I've had the pleasure of being at a few nice ones, including a routenburo in Hakone and Dougo Onsen down in Ehime. Dougo in particular was so hot, I could barely breathe when I got out and had to spend the next 5 minutes taking a cold shower. ( View formatted comment » )

Nothing. Just run of the mill generic stuffed animals. When I was in Japan in 2000 though, I played an 'adult' one on a dare from a bunch of my friends and I won a woman's pair of underwear in a capsule. Charming stuff! ( View formatted comment » )
