Well, to say that I am not a Japanophile would be a lie, seeing I am living here now. I must say, it was anime and manga that first got me interested in Japan but now it has turned into a passion for Japanese Culture on a whole. Just the juxtaposition of ancient rituals and high-tech things in this country alone makes it quite remarkable and interesting. Well, during my four months of teaching here, I have yet to see the cliched 'standing in the hallways holding buckets of water' punishment. If there are is a troublesome student in class, I can't do very much and it is up to the JTE (Japanese Teacher of English) or the Homeroom teacher in elementary school to maintain discipline during class. There have been some student who are extremely disruptive during class and the JTE would just either ignore the student or tell him to be quiet, which the student would comply but then s... When I was back in Melbourne, it would be primarily HLJ. Now that I live in Fukushima, I tend to buy heaps from Akiba (the bargains are just awesome) or from local Japanese online retailers like amiami and Hobbystock. ( View formatted comment » )

Regular is around 144 yen here in Fukushima which is slightly more expensive than the one in the picture. Then again, I never had to get out of the car when filling up petrol here as it's all fully serviced! I just love the service which I will never get back home in Australia. I started queuing from 6am, and only managed to get to row 27 at the east entrance queue... didn't get into Big Sight till 10:15 orz Then proceeded to spend another 2 hours in the AMR queue...but good fun nonetheless!
