She just seems a bit too cutesy and cartoony to me. Perhaps it's just the standard Fraulein head? I do wish they would have included a head w/ glasses and one eye squinted for sniping action. I wasn't blown over by Fraulein Rei, but this Yoko will probably be on my purchase list as I really enjoyed TTGL. ( View formatted comment » )

I'm looking forward to this. I have another dog soldier figure from back around 2002 or so, and it was always a bit disappointing due to its static pose. This Revoltech version will blow that figure out of the water and allow me to finally put it to rest in the trash can where it belongs. It's nice to see the sculptor flexing his realism muscles on this figure. It's a nice change from the standard anime characters. ( View formatted comment » )

I stopped watching after... how shall I say it... the fate of Gerd. For once we had a character who wasn't the typical anime pretty-boy, and they have to aus him. Thanks a lot, writers. ( View formatted comment » )

Unless it's a requirement, she should skip trying to be "moe" and just be herself. She's more than attractive enough, but she's not cartoon cutesy and shouldn't try to be. More like... Paprika? ( View formatted comment » )

Definitely 80's cartoons. There was just a ton of imagination back in those days. From He-man to Thundercats and Transformers, so many great characters and properties came from that era. The early 90's were good, too. They brought us cartoon versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman and the X-men. Mid-way through the 90's, though, the cartoons really lost their umph... and it really hasn't returned yet. Actually, Avatar is a nice modern cartoon, though the anime influence is obvious. I'm waiting for a retu... ( View formatted comment » )

Nevermind. I remember it now. I think it takes a lot more than manga and anime to drive someone to murder. I guess it depends on how INTO it you get, and why. I enjoyed some of DeathNote because it was a clever manga series. I'm sure someone out there loves it because they get off on the thought of killing people. *shrug* ( View formatted comment » )

I don't know. It does get really annoying when somebody's yapping on their cell phone right next to you. ( View formatted comment » )

What they really need to do is focus on multiplayer arcade games (sorry, I still call them "arcade"). I remember the fun everyone had with the old X-men game years ago. It had something crazy like 3 screens and 6 joysticks and was the hottest game in the arcade. So give us something new along the same lines. Entice kids to go en masse into the gaming centers and play games in groups as a social event. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to drop the prices. When I was a kid, I imagined in the future I'd be able to play more arcade ga... ( View formatted comment » )

Fun FLCL video mixed with the audio from the AVATAR opening. Ororo... Actually, Danny, does anyone in Japan know about or watch Avatar: The Last Airbender? It's a popular show here in the USA that airs on the Nickelodeon channel. Here's the link: http://www.nick.com/shows/avatar/index.jhtml ...and a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?... Actually, the NECA figures for AVPR are excellent. I have the Alien Warrior and Predalien Hybrid, and they're both great. The Predator will be released soon in both masked and non-masked versions. AVPR was a horrible film. Honestly, despite the campy factor in the first movie, I prefer AVP1 to AVPR. On the whole, I prefer Predator over Aliens. The first Predator film is just one of those great monster movies that can't be topped. Link to NECA's website: ( View formatted comment » )

The Link chart seems to be a bit out of order, and sadly leaves out some interesting incarnations of the character. Oh well. ( View formatted comment » )

Ehh... The best phone scams I've ever heard were on the NY radio station WPLJ, and now that guy sells compilations from here: http://www.toddscds.com/ The older ones were better, but I guess we're talking about... oh, 15 years ago. Wow, I feel old... ( View formatted comment » )

Assuming you could travel backwards in time, it's not a good idea. Traveling one minute into the past would have to materializing inside a wall or something. Traveling one month into the past would have you materializing in space. The Earth is constantly rotating and traveling through space. Assuming you could somehow dial up Custer's Last Stand and travel back through time to that event, even if you materialized on Earth, you'd probably end up upside-down and half inside a cow in China. With the dawn of the internet, people can get information on anime easily without needing to buy a magazine. What's more, with downloadable fansubs, a person can watch an anime episode sometimes less than 24 hours after it airs in Japan. That's practically instantaneous. Newtype USA focuses primarily on what's being released in the United States, so it's always months (or more) behind Japan. The magazine is practically irrelevant to the serious anime fan. I've also found there's a lot more -- how shall I say thi... ( View formatted comment » )

Val Kilmer?! Oh boy... The two Joel Schumacher-directed films suffered from... well, a lot of stuff. Mainly, they were based more on the old, campy television series than the comic book. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the Tim Burton films, either. Batman Begins is the closest I've seen to a faithful live-action Batman film. I've seen a lot of footage from the upcoming film and was in the studio while the sculptors were working on the action figures from the movie (so I got to see some spoilers, but I've gotta keep my mo...
