Here in Germany you get registered automatically when you turn 18. Then you'll have to go to medical examination. Afterwards they tell you how much capable you are, meaning that if you're fully capable you can be deployed in every branch of the army. If you're partially capable the number of branches will be reduced and if you're not capable enough you'll get exempted from millitary service... Was glad that I got exempted 'cause of some kind of phobia, so I could beginn with my studies earlier^^ ( View formatted comment » )

Now it became the same controversy as with action video games. And although knowing that there has been no proof of video gamers (and in our case otaku in general) to be brutal bastards, politicians try their best to bar us from enjoying what we like to do, playing games, watching anime etc. It's a shame that the government is trying to solve that problem by restricting something, which isn't the cause of the problem...
