The frequent mentions of GSC, Alter and Max Factory attest to the quality of their work. Most of my figures are from these companies and I'm able to preorder them with the assurance that the final products won't disappoint. Megahouse is very reliable and well-priced for the kind of quality and detail you get. Kotobukiya is average but occasionally comes up with gems like the Shunya Mirei-san, whereas Yamato has been picking up great sculpts in the past year but usually fails to deliver once the figures are put through the mass product... I find it a tad disturbing the Nyx cosplayer (far right) who's a voluptuous hourglass with a pretty face is being lumped with the rest as horrible/ugly etc. None of them look thaaat bad on the whole, Cattleya and Melona are even anatomically similar to the illustrations. Like others have mentioned, Yamashita's style probably isn't as popular with Japanese otakus because it lacks the googly-eyed, youthfully cute type of moe factor that's typically preferred. I very much prefer artists who employ some element of realism to their styles which is why his art is right up my alley. Sera-chan got me into figure-collecting =) ( View formatted comment » )
