Tomorrow is the first day of the 77th Comic Market (also known as Comiket) held in Ariake at Tokyo Big Site. Over the next three days tens of thousand of artists from around Japan (and some from beyond the shores like dannychoo.com friend Kurot) and hundreds of thousands of dojinshi (homemade comic books) fans will gather for the largest otaku event in Japan.
Actually, Comiket is held twice a year, on in summer and one in winter. Summer Comiket is larger, but Winter Comiket is scary big too.
The book in on the table looks more like a phonebook, but it's actually just a catalog of all the sellers who will be at this Comiket.
On top of tons of dojinshi, there is also a whole section for vendors like Good Smile Company and Bushi Road, and don't forget cosplayers galore!
I'm planning to attend this year and should be there tomorrow. For those of you who are interested in Comiket but are unable to attend, I'd like to livestream the event so you can get an idea of what it is like to attend. I'll be using ustream to put up some live video and commentary as I walk around. I'm not sure how well it will work (Big Site is notorious for poor cell phone connections) and I may get stopped from shooting certain areas, but Ill do the best I can. If you follow the video you can even send me chat messages and ask me questions or make requests.
I hope to start streaming at 12:00 pm JST. If you follow menon Twitter at
www.twitter.com/stevenagata I'll update my progress and post links to the video. Or you can just load my ustream page at

Hope you like the show!
Have you ever been to Comiket? Are you going this year?
