Just got back from Make: Tokyo Meeting 04, being held today and tomorrow just down the road at Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Maker Fairs were started by 'Make' magazine - published by O'Reilly Media. There's been a few in the US, the UK, Africa and of course four of them here in Tokyo.

Make magazine is all about making things yourself, being inventive, hacking everyday objects to do cool things with them.

I saw some very groovy stuff today, including a 3D printer (that had been used to make a 1 metre Gundam that was on show), various robots, a coffee machine connected to Twitter to tell you when you needed to refill the it, and the most incredible Tesla Coil that generated 3 million volts and emitted sparks that actually played a tune!

I shot quite a bit of video and will put the link in the comments when I've edited it.

If you love gadgets / hacking and are in Tokyo tomorrow, head on down to the Ookayama campus of the institute.
