At most stations in Tokyo you can find a well stocked kiosk that sells newspapers, drinks and snacks. There is a large selection of snacks as you can see here. Almost like a mini convenience store. With so many snacks you probably get the impression that Japanese are becoming less healthy in their diet. That may be true, but many of the snacks advertise the vitamin and other supplements that are contained in them. Some are made out of soy rather than wheat and many are pitched as diet bars. Looks like they are at least trying to snack right. I always feel the urge to buy something and have a quick munch on the platform before the train comes. Chocolate covered macademias or almonds come to mind. (my excuse here is that nuts are protein ^__^) What is your favorite snack to munch on when waiting for the bus or train?
