Sent my MacBook Pro in for repair last Saturday. Had it returned to me with a new display on Monday evening! Talk about fast service! Very impressed with Apple support.
The problem was due to wake on USB, whereby if you plug in a USB item it will wake the laptop from sleep. What happened was I closed the lid, put it to sleep and then unplugged a USB item. For some reason it decided to wake the laptop up even though the lid was closed. Without me realizing this, I put the laptop in my bag and went to work. Opened it up to find it had overheated and cooked the left side of the monitor... It still worked but had white lines over the left side of the screen.
Do you own an Apple product? How do you find the quality of the product and the service they provide?

I have a brand new 17-inch MBP. Most USB devices Will wake Mac portables from sleep. This is normal. I frequently forgot to detach my iPhone when I sleep my MBP. It wakes back up every time. To answer your second question, they make the finest consumer electronics in the world. Best quality, best (and fast) service. They always get the top ratings in customer satisfaction here in the States.

Wow, must have got pretty hot to do that! Mind you, I guess Apple products do have a reputation for doubling as heating installations!
That's great service though. Do you have to pay extra for delivery? I've always gone to the branch.
I agree with you, the service is fantastic - provided you have Apple Care to pay for it!

I didn't have to pay a thing, except for the phone call. A guy came with a box to pick it up. It came back all wrapped and sealed as though it was new :D Altho the sticky plastic made all my stickers come off!

It got so hot that it cooked the screen? Wow. My Fujitsu-Siemens doesn't get so hot:)

My Mini hasn't crapped out on me yet. I would never buy A laptop from them though. I know too many people who have had crazy problems, and apple refusing to admit it was a defect under warranty. I like OS X more than I like the build quality of newer models. Gonna look in to building a PC that supports OS X.

I had problems with my MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa Model) a few months ago. The Logic Board died and I was getting constant Kernel Panics on bootup! I took it to the Apple Store and they said they'd take it in for repair. They also have me a new top assembly cover because the Trackpad was rising up on the left side and it was affecting its use. All I can say is I am so glad I bought Apple Care! It would of cost me an arm and a leg if I didn't have Apple Care. It took about a week for my computer to be repaired. Not bad!
