An ad for a new travel navigation site at the station. There are so many different connections and timetables that it is often difficult to know which train to take. To solve this there are a number of mobile phone applications to help you out. Yahoo Japan has a good app on the net also. I use a free one in my iPhone and it quite good. This one being advertised costs about $1 every month. A lot of the Japanese mobile phone applications can cost around $3 a month. Many people sign up and then forget they are paying. Nice business model ^^. With the iPhone gaining popularity in Japan and having more of a one time payment model I wonder how long it will be before the monthly payment japanese mobile model breaks down? Would you pay for an iPhone app on a monthly basis rather than a one time fee?
