I love bridges. They symbolize the perfect product to me. A tool that is very practical and designed to make people lives easier, but also a bridge can be a work of art that is beautiful and unique.
Tokyo is a great place for me. With several rivers cutting right through the city there are hundreds of bridges connecting the city together.
While big flashy bridges like the Rainbow Bridge may get more attention, my favorite is still The Nippon Bashi or Nihonbashi (Japan Bridge). Located in the district that bears the same name, not far from Tokyo Station, Nihonbashi is a beautiful piece of art with sculpting and impressive iron gargoyles protecting the bridge.

It's also the famous "Zero Point". The starting point where the distance of roads in Japan are measured. This bridge marks the spot where the famous Tokaido road began (or ended) and is an important historical marker.

I often cross the bridge on my way biking through the city, but decided to stop today and take a few pics (organized by Ken Lee's very handy Photo Mess App).

What so you think is the most beautiful aspect of the town you live in?
