A set of photos from the lighting displays around Roppongi Hills with a bit of Tokyo Tower thrown in.
Holiday light displays are very popular in Japan, but in the past the costs were astronomical. Now the displays use low power LEDs that reduce electricity usage dramatically and last a lot longer too.
Sometimes I think it is kind of wasteful to use all these lights, but I find it helps cheer people up through the winter months.
Japan is quite high in the Northern Hemisphere meaning that we have very long days in summer and very short days in winter. Right now the sun is setting at around 5pm!
Even though it is cold now, it is still nice to check out the light displays around the city.
Does your city have displays for the holidays?
