Having fun n games figuring out how to carry the armor over to
Singapore. Not going to check it in as I don't want it going missing
^^; Have worked at the airport before and seen first hand how they
throw bags around. Have you experienced damaged or missing luggage?
Ryomo continues to watch as I pack. Wonder how I'll carry her?
Somebody suggested that I wear the armor up to the plane and then take
it off at the door^^;

Whatever you do, don't walk around the airport with your blaster hanging out. Airport security tend it lack any sense of humor nowadays.
I only had missing luggage once, but it was of great urgency to get it back on time as I was heading out for a tour next day. Seems more and more often our luggage is damaged nowadays.

I doubt so. Singaporean organizers can be rather stingy from time to time.

you can actually get the hard shell cabin size luggage.
and wrap/guard the armors with some of tshirts that you may wanna wear

Personally if I were you, I would put it in a hard case. There are special cabin size bags for such purposes e.g. for camera equipment. I have seen my friends did that when we were traveling. That way you can either hand carry it or check it in *hence it has to be hard case to withstand any abuse*(just ensure you insure it at the right value and have a 'Fragile' sticker).
You can try putting on the armour before boarding the plane ... although I doubt if the airlines people will be on the dark side in this instance :-)

Hmm, I don't think you want to endure wearing armour for a flight from Tokyo to Singapore.
Thought of shipping your armour direct to your hotel?

I always keep an eye out for anyone handling my luggage carelessly.
One time a hole was punched into a side of a box I was bringing home.
I even put a "Fragile" sticker on each side and an arrow for "This Side Up".
Somehow they never even bothered to read it. :S
Luckily, none of the stuff inside got hurt.

honestly, I would be surprised if they read

Yeah put it in a hard case or something...
Myself-finder
either hard case or stuff it chock full of newspaper or soft stuff. also depends what flight you're taking Danny. if it's a nice airline like SIA then you could just wrap it in a bag, head to the "odd size package" place and hand it over. alternatively ask for a trap so it would always stay up, stick a thousand fragile stuff and everything.
any chance of us coming to fetch you from the airport?

i mean tray, not trap

Hard case golf container. Mostly used for keeping golf clubs with bag. Some troopers been seen using that. Its the height of the golf bag, and has the space to keep everything with blaster. But also depends if u velcro-ed ur suit or glued it permanently lol

Have a nice journey, Danny! I've always wanted to go to Singapore, it looks like such a nice place and lots of people seem friendly too. Maybe I'll get there someday ^^
Luckily I've been quite lucky and I've never had anything lost and damaged while flying. The worst things I've had are flights getting cancelled and having to wait half a day or so in the airport, and also going through airport security in to and out of America from the UK. Such thorough checks like metal detectors, the x-ray machine, having to take off our shoes and have them checked... It was so exhausting (and invading) especially after flying for half a day...
But then again, it was exactly one year after 9/11 so it's understandable. (We even flew back here on September 12th '02, one year and one day after it. That was a little scary ^^; )

International mail? EMS shipping? It must make the journey to Singapore!

I lost some luggages one, but hopefully, I got is back the next day at my hotel ^^

Personally, I would put it in a sturdy case with lots of foam peanuts and bubble wrap and check it. Another option is mailing it to a DC member who you know well in Singapore.
As for lost luggage, when I first came to Japan, they shipped all of my uniform items to Okinawa instead of Yokosuka. Took over a week to get it back. In the mean time, I was allowed to go to work in my "smurfs" (blue sweat pants and sweatshirt). ^^;
One of my best traveling experiences was because of lost luggage. After flying Air France, they lost my luggage in transit, so they delivered my bags to my hotel the next day FOR FREE, even though I was staying in a city 150km from the airport! It was quite nice traveling without my bags, knowing they would follow me soon.

Get one of those reinforced traveling suitcases and wrap your goods in sponge and bubble wrap, make sure you fill any left over spaces with more sponge or bubble wrap your armour doesn't move about during the flight as it may cause any unnecessary scratches of dents.
Seems very troublesome ship over armour. :<

wow narita airpot will .... if you wear your stormtrooper suit >_<

Packing it with a hard case and a lots of foam peanuts would be good to transfer your armor there.
Self employed
Would have been better to ship it over beforehand. Not sure if the overzealous SG airport security might have anything to say about these things. That said, think the earlier suggestion of a hardcase would be best, since things get thrown around in cabin space as well.
pwn3d by two big and a whole bunch of itty bitty dolls.

I suggest shipping it. Nice big box with plenty of bubble wrap and peanuts.

My friend lightsaber was broken when placed inside the luggage when he go by plane.
Student
If you could somehow fit it into your hand luggage or into a special hard case it shouldn't be too hard to hold onto it without having to post it or wear it during the whole flight ^^
Luggage handle was damaged....the handle which slides out for dragging the luggage around.
The luggage leg stand broken....when you leave your luggage upright, vertical, there is 2 short front luggage leg. Really spoilt my holiday mood.
Otaku ^^
Get a Samsonite hard-case luggage. Its durable and can take bag throwing at the airport. Paste a fragile sticker on the bag to warn those bag attendants. It sure keep your armour in good condition.

Laptop Tech
If you can fit it in a bag that'll go carry-on, pad all the pieces with an extra change of clothes, and wrap and stuff any camera or electronics inside as well. You will either have to pack your blaster in checked baggage or leave it at home. (might be for the best)
When I travel, I pack one full change of clothes, as well as any expensive items in my carry-on so I have something to wear if they loose my bags. (hasn't happened yet, but best to be prepared) :)

The easiest way to carry it is by, of cause, wearing it ^_^
I'm sure you can pack it firm & nicely in a mid-size luggage like others do.
trying to learn japanese
Danny just wear your armor on your flight.
???Confused???
Take her as a carry on...though I wonder how people will react when it goes through the x-ray machine...

LOL I agree with everyone saying you should wear it on your flight. Have you considered shipping your armor to the hotel, or wherever you are staying via express mail? I had to do that a few times for my cosplay props when traveling to conventions from out of state/country.
I also think you should carry Ryomo around, so she can have fun traveling with you. ^^

Oh United, bleh, kept cancelling flight so sent my luggage on a different one than me even though I checked in for my flight.
Definitely hard shell cases are excellent for carry-on. Those oversized bags can not crush them! Swimmer had some really cute ones for around $40, one of the best things I bought in Japan. Excellent for carrying dolls and other stuff you don't want crushed.
I know screeners do a double take when they see dolls in x-ray but that armour definitely must get some looks too!
NEET,no namecards.
OMG a vision!
*activates mind's eye*
i can see all over the papers as headlines,
(Cosplayers all gather at the airport to fetch superstar Danny Choo at Changi Airport)
other than that, why not try the ol' fashion suitcase sniper, put armor in suitcase and say its hand luggage.lol, just reminded me..bringing doll into airport = small infant in suitcase XD
http://www.alternatesam.com
be careful not to let those over-sensitive airport security people think that you are a terrorist with your replica guns etc....wearing it onboard the plane is not a good idea as well, think about the metal detectors/body checks areas.
Best if u using fedex / courier services which can handle fragile stuff...might cost a bomb but at least you have peace of mind

I thought the best way would be to fedex it over to your hotel. Much safer than it being lost at the airport.
