I could have sworn Ieft Tokyo Station around here somewhere.
:)
Actually the station is being demolished and rebuilt. The old classic station burned down many years ago and was quickly rebuilt. Unfortunately when is was rebuilt they didn't have much time or money so it wasn't very nice. Now we are nearing the end of nearly 10 years of rennovations to the station to bring it back to it's original stature. The East side was completed a few years ago and ts still a couple more years before the West side is done but the whole project has gone on while the station itself stayed fully operational.

I love the great designs of major train stations like Grand Central station in New York and the Moscow Subway. I always thought Tokyo should have a beautiful station like that instead of just busy and crowded. What's your favorite classic old building?

I remember seeing this on my last trip in April and was kinda pissed by the construction work ruining the view. They were also doing some work at Senso-Ji in Asakusa so I couldn't get some nice pics of the main building. Hope its all done by next April when I go again.

It's a trick. That's where they're building fully functioning Gundams. You know it's true.

JR Osaka had some major renovations going on when I was there back in August. I've never seen such a large construction project in my life. Kyoto station was beautiful in a modern kind of way

lol hey at least Tokyo station still looks more awesome than any stations here in Sydney... Ours is quite old, so that's the only thing special about it.

From what I remember, Tokyo station was pretty ugly. I'm glad they're rebuilding it.
