Kodama Shinkansen

Just jumped on a kodama Shinkansen at Shin Fuji station with 1 minute
to spare before the doors closed. Trains are so much more convenient
than planes. I like to travel without any reservations.

Now on the way back to Tokyo and passing through stations like
Mishima, Atami, Shin Yokohama. It's been a while since I caught the
local, stopping at all stations, Kodama Shinkansen train.

I got off the train at Mishima and took this photo while we waited for
a Nozomi train to rip by in the express lane beside us. When the
Nozomi comes through at full speed you really feel the wind compress
against the carriage you are in and then release once it has passed by.

Should be on Tokyo within another 30-40 minutes. Total time down to
Fuji is only about 1 hour.

Hope you enjoyed the quick trip diversion away from the normal Tokyo
blogging pieces.

What's your favorite Shinkansen? Kodama, Hikari, Nozomi? What about
your favorite model? 700?

JR pass doesn't let us go on the Nozomi ._. And the trains are scarily punctual...

    yes, Favorite is 500 series.
Another nice is Fastech 360S The "Nekomimi-Shinkansen".
Personally I've only riden 700 series in Nozomi service, that was a rather pricey trip.
