Gorgeous full moon tonight. My iPhone camera still can't shoot night photographs as well as I would like but this one came out ok. Shot some pics last month with a powerful telephoto and the detail was amazing. You can see those pica on my flickr account.
Shot this from Izumibashi Bridge in Akiba.

Mad scientist
Whenever I see a full moon I think of the theory where the gravity can trigger earthquakes. There is no scientific proof for this theory, but there is a theory about gravity pull from sun and moon due to their placement. However looking at big earthquakes and when they appear compared to the lunar cycle tells that this could quite possibly be true. For some reason the quakes appears a few days (up to a week) after full moon.
The moon also controls the tide and full moon will create a high tide, which is higher than normal high tide. This isn't a severe issue unless it's combined with a storm or similar.
Don't ask me why, but full moon often happens on nights with very few clouds and few/no clouds at high results in cold nights.
Still... a full moon is still interesting to see and it's quite nice to get the amount of light if you are outside at night. New moon (when the moon is all black) makes the nights quite dark.
It's a nice picture. It's a bit blurry, but nightshots are possibly the most difficult ones to make for digital cameras. I tried taking a picture of the moon once and it turned out to be harder than I thought.
Mirai Bustaaaaaaa!!!
Aww we have no good view of any full moons in SG even though it's suppose to be the most appropriate timing for the moon to really shine :X. Happy Mooncaek festival though :P

Exploring worlds and ways of thought
Yep, full moon here as well. I though about setting up the telescope but thin high clouds came in. Which reminds me that M-31 should be in the night sky now for the next several months.
Mad scientist
M-31? Any more info on this? I'm not really sure what it is, but I recall I once spotted ISS on the evening sky and that was an awesome experience, almost kind of religious. Spotting the manmade object in space, which shines much brighter than the stars ^^
Btw it's cloudy here too, like 6/8 or something. You can make out that it's a full moon, but really watching it is kind of boring because clouds keep covering it.
Exploring worlds and ways of thought
Yes, M-31 also known as the Andromeda galaxy,is our closest neighbor galaxy at 2.5 million light years away. Some say they can see it with the naked eye in certain locations. It is best to spot this with binoculars first before going to the telescope the first time. Also Stellarium is a program you can put on your computer to help locate where it is. Stellarium runs on Windows, Macs, Linux too. b(^v^)d
