Walking past a second hand game store which reminded me that my Ninja
Gaiden Sigma 2 should be arriving today ^o^

The store had a bunch of retro Super Famicom games which brought back
memories of the games I used to play as a wee lad.
The first games I every played was on the Commodore 64 - games like
1942 and Sanxion.

What were the first games you ever played?

Probably Space Invaders on the Atari 2600 was the first game I ever owned and played...Commodore 64 and Amiga 600 followed.

I love buying used in Japan...it's always kept in amazing conditions! I got a lot of old super famicom games at a low price, with original boxes and booklets.

Aye aye, NES was my first system as well. Not sure which exact game I played first, but it was probably Duck Hunt. I remember I used to just put the gun up to the TV screen sometimes to kill those darn ducks. =D

I remember going over to my cousin's in Michigan back in the early 90s and playing on his NES and Sega Genesis. I liked the NES better even though the Genesis had way better graphics so come Christmas that year, he gave me the NES and all of his games and accessories! I think that was the best Christmas for me yet!

As for first games, I got Super Mario Bros with Duck Hunt, Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors 2, TMNT, Robocop, Kung Fu, Rampage, and Ninja Gaiden.

I also remember that after I got my tonsils removed, my mom went to Funcoland in Novi (this was before Gamestop) to by me Super Mario Bros 3 to play while I recovered. Ahh, good times...

Ah I remember playing on the Famicom a long time ago.

Those hot sunny days in Hong Kong, and I would play Mario Kart on the Famicom with my cousin who would drop by. It was fun.

    My first game I ever played was Pong which belonged to my parents, complete with dial controllers ^^;
The first that I actually owned myself though? A Sega Master System II with the first Sonic the Hedgehog built in. I wish they would do that again nowadays...

My first game was Wheelin' Wallie for Commodore 64 (ingame screenshot). I recall the new computer and to have some fun a single game was bought. We loaded it and the game started, yet we couldn't figure out how to control it so it was back to the manual. It stated that you should use the joystick to control it.... "what's a joystick?". No gaming that day :P

This was in 1985 and it wasn't like people really knew much about computers or games at that time. Just having a machine, which could display a picture on the TV seemed totally awesome and like something from a science fiction. It took a while to really figure out how to control it.

The communists considered it a crime to earn money on copyrighted software so pre 1989 everything east of the Iron Curtain was pirated. I didn't know Italy was communistic :P

Having said that I don't think any country with computers didn't have pirated copies. I recall once being in a game shop and I was given the option to buy the games (naturally) or just some pirated floppies with the game at half price O_O

I think the worst you can do regarding pirated software is to sell and earn money on pirated software. Morally I consider this as bad as buying stolen goods from thieves with the intention of reselling at a profit.

I once talked with a guy about a certain game and then he said he never finished it. He had spend quite a deal on a pirated copy (why not just buy it then?) and whenever he reached a certain point the game crashed with a disk I/O error. Naturally he had no way of complaining about this. If you buy it legally you can always go back and complain. If they reject, then you have legal rights and can file a written complain though some consumer help thingie. I guess they reject all complains about pirated stuff ^^
