Thanks to Danny and Akiyama-San from Good Smile Co. I was able to attend the opening event for akiba:F held today. The official start is tomorrow, but got to look around and see the amazing place today. And they didn't even poke me with needles!
It's quite amazing and very futuristic. Looks very much like a medical bay from some scifi tv show. inside you get free wifi, lots of manga and magazines to read, and even an iPod touch powered entertainment center to use while you fluids are drained.
There will be themes to the decorations, and Good Smile is helping out with the current theme of "Hatsune Miku". I haven't seen so many Good Smile figures since the Tokyo Figure Show.
They even have three of these super cool 3D display units (3 of the total 5 that exist in Japan!)
If you want to visit it is quite near Akiba station, but enter you will have to pay with your blood! For visitors to Japan note that you must reside in Japan for at least 4 weeks before you can donate blood.
Will post some more photos of the event when I get home for those too squeemish to let them poke holes in you.
When was the last time you donated blood?
