I'm here at The Sumo Hall in Ryougoku, Tokyo, for one of the six major
annual sumo tournaments. It's day 9 of 15, the final being held on
Sunday.
The day starts with the lower ranking wrestlers, reaching a climax
just before 6pm with the top-ranking big boys.
There's been some pretty rough sumo so far, one wrestler breaking his
nose and ending up covered on blood!
We've got the cheapest seats in the house (3,600 yen), but although
we're right at the back we have a perfect view of the ring.
Some of these guys are almost impossibly big - I don't know how they
manage to walk, let alone wrestle!
It's just after 3pm, and the real pros should start to come on pretty
soon - exciting stuff. Need to shout out some names to show my
support :)
