Japanese Fast Food

Need to prep for a meeting with GSC tomorrow morning so not much time
for food - Japanese fast food to the rescue.
This photo is taken outside Fuji Soba ( fujisoba.co.jp/ ) which
I guess is the Japanese equivalent of fast food. Pay at the vending
machine for a ticket, hand it over and get your food seconds later.

Other fast food alternatives are beef bowl places (Gyudon) like
Matsuya, Sukiya and Yoshinoya. Could also settle for a rice ball
(Onigiri) from 7/11 too.
What sort of stuff do you pick up when you need a quick bite?

Today's Japanese phrase is "Jikan ga nai" [時間がない] or "I don't have time."
Jikan=Time
Ga=particle
Nai=None

When you add "nai" onto the end of a verb, it means "do not" so
"Tabenai" means "does not eat."

海外のファーストフードはマックなら、日本のファーストフードは富士そば?

    I'd pick beef bowl, if only they have Japanese fast food places in the UK... I spose wagamama's is the closest thing, and it is fairly quick, but its more a resturant.

      Cool, we have a Wagamama in Sydney too except that it IS a restaurant and there's only one in the city. Not to sure about the other states though

        Wagamama is a horrible abomination against japanese food. I have been to one of the Perth ones a couple of times, but with them using totally non-standard ingredients, it's nothing like the original food, and heavily overpriced.

        I still prefer any decent kaiten sushi place, it's fast, but costly, but still relatively true to the original.

        In Japan, one of my favourite places near a client was the Ichiran ramen place in Laqua, next to Tokyo Dome City. You buy a ticket, you get a tiny little booth to crouch in, with a curtain obscuring the staff faces, and you write down on a pad how spicy and fatty you want your soup, and how well cooked the noodles, and you get the bowl in front of you. The booth concept is there to stop people yakking to others, so all you do is come in, eat, and get out. :)

      Suppose I could always put soy sauce on my Greggs pasty.

    I think I saw a place called Yoshinoya around here.
    Wonder if it's the same place?

    Usually when I pick up fast food I usually grab some Panda Express or Arby's. :D

    Conbini bento for me. It doesn't taste as good as an eat-in place, but it's faster.

    On base usually I have Anthony's Pizza, Taco Bell, or Subway.

    Off base, usually Matsuyas, Wendy's, MOS Burger, or Burger King.

    At home in the states, Jack n the Box, What a Burger, and Panda Express.

    Find myself eating fast food alot. Down to 88 yen per dollar, last I heard, and expected to drop more.

    Fast food here consists of the normal giant fast food chain restaurants such as McDonalds, KFC, etc and some smaller shops which sell fish and chips, kebabs and what not.

    I wish fast food where I lived was as healthy as the options in Japan... Where I live it is a matter between choosing between the lesser of the many evils.

    Love these places, especially the ones in the JR station. You can be in and out within five minutes and be (somewhat) full. They're also quite cheap, for example a bowl of kake(just noodles and broth) udon is usually ~$3 if I remember right, depending on the place.
