Can you guess which exit I am headed for?
Shibuya station is the 4th busiest on the Yamanote Line. This sign on
the floor must have had millions walk over it. I wonder how they keep
the red from fading?

What's in Shinjuku?
You do realize there are search sites called Google and Wikipedia, no?
Anyway, to answer your question, Shinjuku would be something like London's Oxford Street, New York's 5th Avenue or LA's Sunset Boulevard.

Shinjuku literally means new place to stay. Tokyo station used to be the center point of town, then the high rise office buildings and hotels got built in Shinjuku and business went through a growth period. Now Tokyo station area is being redeveloped and a lot more people are dining and shopping there also.
There is an entertainment district in Shinjuku called Kabukicho which is popular in the evening. Also many department stores and shops. A busy place for working and playing. The Tokyo Metropolitan Govt also have their building in Shinjuku.

If i'm not mistaken, Shinjuku is the only place in the world where there is TWO Tiffany's on the same damn street, much less, two in the same town....
I think it's considered one of the richest places in the world.

I never bothered to figure out the exits at Shibuya station. I just kind of follow the largest crowd and hope it takes me to hachiko. It usually works but when it doesn't I usually just take the nearest exit. Once I'm outside I know the area pretty well. This would never work in Shinjuku station though, that place is a monstrosity.

I wonder how often these floor signs need to be replaced?
