Unless you're earning well in excess of ¥350k per month, getting a driver's license in Japan is going to cost you a few month's pay. I don't think you can get away with selling your arms and legs in this sitution. Who's going to drive? ^^. Fees aside, this poster shows you a table of how busy this particular driving school is throughout the year. August and September coincide with summer holidays. Attending driving school is not mandatory, but most do anyway. And most do so when they are still a student with time to kill. Graduations are usually held in April, therefore January-March is a busy time for the instructors.
